Well technically, I wrote, on my round-tu-it list for the summer. I didn't actually specify which summer Of course that's assuming we ever have a summer again. Popular Post steven newman Posted March 4, 2019 Author Popular Post Report Posted March 4, 2019 Coat of stain is now on the Chester Drawers....waiting on that to dry....whether to add a second coat, or..go ahead with the Poly Gloss.....film at 2300 hrs... Gunny, p_toad, Cal and 4 others 7 Quote
steven newman Posted March 4, 2019 Author Report Posted March 4, 2019 Ok...sample turned out decently So did the top of the case... And, even the front of the chester drawers... Just good, old, knotty Pine....problems began on the right side's plywood panels.. And the left side ones, too... No, I did not "miss" these, everything got the same amount of stain....well, except for the drawer sides... Just the dovetails got stained....so.... may wait awhile, then go back and add a second coat the the panels that turned into sponges? let the first coat dry, and add the second... plywood is 5mm Luann plywood...with the "good" side out...Hmmmm.. Assume from the same sheet? Warm those panels lightly with a hair dryer to make sure dry before applying more. For #3 lumber came out very nice. I really like the end panels. Popular Post steven newman Posted March 5, 2019 Author Popular Post Report Posted March 5, 2019 Just came back from the shop....added a second coat to the panels, and to the top of the case...will recheck in a little bit....then again in the morning... p_toad, Gunny, Cal and 4 others 7 Quote
Popular Post steven newman Posted March 5, 2019 Author Popular Post Report Posted March 5, 2019 OK, been at this most of the day...thanks to a few drying times....down to one panel still soaking up colour....think I finally slow it down Second one down.. 2x4 had a few knots...hard to stain them....this side had three panels that weren't playing nice.. The right side had 2 panels,,,,#1 and #3....may have fixed those... Top is looking better? Just Knotty Old Pine....Might be about done...I hope.. FlGatorwood, p_toad, Cal and 6 others 9 Quote
