Good day folks, we'll be going through a community software update to a full version. That means things are going to look a tad different around here, and things may seem a bit wonky for a few days.

We plan on starting the upgrade tonight or throughout the next couple days so please be aware of some things.

 

Items Effecting You

• We will no longer be able to use our user names for logging into the community. We will have to use our account emails instead. This is a security update, the reason is if a hacker wanted to break into your account here, as it stands now they already have half your login information by visiting the forums, and viewing your user name. They cannot view your email address.
• The editing tool bar will change in appearance and function. It may take some getting used too but you should catch on pretty quick, the main functions are still there, but there are also a few new bells and whistles, especially if you want to make your topics stand out with some pizazz, there are some neat paragraph and box type features that you can use to make your topic look like a professional article of sorts if you have that desire.
• For the editing nerds here like myself, you can view a rundown on the editor at this link Invision Community 5 Editor.

Login Issues

If you have any problems logging in, you can use the Bugs and Issues Forum to notify us you are having these issues. You do not have to be logged in to use that forum. Please remember when you submit a topic in Bugs and Issues as a non logged in member, you'll have to tell us who you are so we can help you, since your avatar will not be visible as a non logged in person.

Appearance and Features

Of course things will look different, and there will be bugs that we'll have to work through, many of the add-on templates we purchased and maintain a license on that make our community look organized and pretty, will no longer work, the third party developers do not have the motivation to update their add-ons so we lose on that front, money invested on those apps lost, but many of those apps are being incorporated into the native software so there is no need to maintain the licenses and payments for such licenses throughout the year. I must admit it was cumbersome to track expiration dates on those third party licenses and pay the developers throughout the year to keep our apps up to date and compatible, all that goes away, our community will be 100 percent native software from the primary developers at Invision Community.

Most of the upgrades do not effect our Patriot Woodworkers, they effect us on the Administrative side of things, and even at that it'll take me some time to fully realize what those items are so I can bring Ron and Lew in on admin things.     

 

I'll perform the updates around 7pm Pac Time tonight and throughout the upcoming days. Most of you guys in flyover or on the east coast may be in bed and sleeping through the upgrades. But expect some hiccups around those times, perhaps it's best to not post any lengthy topics or replies in case our community goes down for a few minutes and wipes out your typing progress.

IN case ya'll were wondering the theme switcher, from light mode to dark mode is at lower left of your window.

Need to fix clear notifications.

Didn't require me to login on my tablet, but it did on my phone.

Things sure look different. Change is always good as long as everything stays the same.

Just noticed, the current through 4 days out Birthday notification listing is missing. Used to be above the Popular Contributors listing.

They cleared once I clicked the bell and then closed the window. Well, I should say, they are still there but the little red number disappeared. Isn't that the way it always worked?
