Yet another somber day for me. I had one nephew that was the only other woodworker in my extended family. In fact, my shop was to go to him if something happened to me. Last week he died of a heart at

Take care. Prayers for your wife's quick recovery and you dodge it.

Went to the furniture bank this morning, five club members and four outside volunteers (two high school boys, two adults) banged out 30 tables and three and a half repairs.   Then picked up some free stuff for the theater company (and some for my charity projects), dropped it off, then took a bed, dresser, and desk back to the furniture bank for donation that will probably go out tomorrow morning.

In sadder news, a high school friend (and my prom date) passed away last Friday.  She still lived in the home town area and still went to the church that we attended together.

Busy Monday.  Customer states AC doesn't work. Hmm, wonder why?

That's just a new kind of wireless :)

Had a great weekend. Went upcountry, yes way out in the country, with couple of club members and got a cherry tree and a maple plus some other stuff from a turner reducing some of his shop but not much.

It be Tuesday. Finishing up the scroll saw stand today. Well, probably. The actual woodworking is done. Assembling is time consuming, though. My home brewed plans usually

leave a lot to be desired in the completeness category. This project is no exception. As it appears at this stage, it lacks refinement, grace and beauty. Hey, it's a tool. But, as dad always said about my stuff, "It's hell fer stout". And, it will serve it's intended purpose. What else can you ask.

City showed up with an empty dump truck.  Left with it full of tree debris from my yard.  Took them 30 minutes to gather it all, smash it down, trim and collect and stuff and repeat until they had the complete pile.

Took me roughly 4 hours of work cutting and dragging it all to the curb.  I think they must have done this before as the 3-man crew made quick work of it.

Saw a second dump truck drive by to continue the city pickup in my quadrant today.

Got some oak floorboards (unused cutoffs) that I hope to use as box sides for my latest project.

In my hometown (way across the state), power has been out for many people since late Saturday.   Trees down everywhere.

Got up at 0300 with excruciating pain in my abdomen.  By 0400 I was bent over and twisted like a pretzel.  Called for ambulance at 0430.  Thankfully by 0700 they gave me morphine and things settled down a bit.  Finally, could breathe and such, not doubled over in the gurney moaning in pain.  By 0800 they came to take me down for a CT scan.  The gurney driver was a rookie, hit everything possible.  Then came the dye for the scan.  Yeah, lovely experience that produced.  Wiped out the morphine so when I get back to the ER area, they gave me 2nd dose.  Got some sleep while they did test and such.  Spent from then till noon at hospital.  Doctor came in and explained I have a kidney stone about 3.2mm.

Heck of a way to start the day.  Thankfully the drugs they gave me prescriptions for were a total of $18.  About had heart attack when the girl told me the Brand name drug Flomax is $900 a pill.  Yeah, I'll take generic thank you very much.:D

Still one dead tree laying in my side yard.  Bought a hand saw that I hope will help me start cutting what is left down to sections I can lift. I think it is hardwood, although I'm not sure what species. Didn't pay attention when it landed in my yard.  Most of the bark has fallen off.  Pretty dry now, and I may take a chunk into my shop to see if I can bandsaw it apart down the middle.  If it is a wood worth making a project out of I may slice it into 1" thick pieces and stack it somewhere with spacers between to dry some more.  I've got a good re-saw blade on my bandsaw now that needs a good test. Saw should arrive tomorrow.

Same exact story I could have told a year ago. Only difference was that I drove myself to the ER.  3am when I got there.  9am I walked out after it had passed and what eventually was a $2k bill after insurance covered the rest.  Also got some pain pills that I'll take first if it happens again.

Hope you pass that stone soon @Gunny.I've experienced gall stones but never kidney stones. I've heard kidney stones are more painful.

Prayers for you.

Just a note about resaw bandsaw blades- some are designed for dry wood. The wood slicer blade from Highland Woodworking is like that

Good advice.  That's the blade I have and when I use the new 18" pruning saw that should be here tomorrow I'll see how wet it is. The tree has been dead and lying on my yard, propped against a stone wall for about a year now. Bark falling off.  The small short pieces laying around it were dry, and pretty light when I cleaned up around them the last two days.

Good to know you're home and hanging in there Gunny. Hope you didn't go to work like you planned. As I told you, "this too shall pass"  Eventually:Punched:

Have to ask, did they give you the complimentary strainer as your parting gift? Take care my friend.

OUCH! Hope you get relief real soon. Isn't there a sonic procedure that disintegrates kidney stones?

Gunny sorry to hear bout your special visit. They say the kidney stones are worse than delivery but you know that is a matter of opinion. By the way there is no way brand Flomax is that high for 1 pill---find a new pharmacy.
