March 27, 20233 yr Popular Post Was trying to sleep through to Tuesday....Sir Uncle Charles would not let me.... projects are done...pills taken....shop time would be of the Sharpen & Put Away sort of thing.... 47 drab & dreary degrees outside...yep, Monday, alright....
March 27, 20233 yr Weekend was pretty much a bust, "Mother Nature" decided to keep "Old Man Winter" around for awhile longer.
March 27, 20233 yr Popular Post Still fiddling with the Scroll saw stand. Not saying I'm slow but, a tortoise is faster.
March 27, 20233 yr Popular Post Weather crappy again today. Guess I will head to the shop. Found a piece of Dogwood I had and cut it up into bowl blanks. Started a bowl yesterday and it is a dream to turn.
March 27, 20233 yr Popular Post Used to have a saying, when I worked in Construction.... "My Grandma can work faster, and she has been dead for 20 years" Sometimes, one just has to "milk" a job.....avoids mistakes, that way....

March 27, 20233 yr Popular Post Started turning the mystery wood bowl blank. Very soft and punky is spots. Some CA and thinned lacquer helped stabilize it but still gonna need lots of sanding- especially the inside.

I've seen some of the weird chunks you've managed to turn into things of beauty.
March 27, 20233 yr Popular Post Busy weekend. Still recovering from round trip cross state drive yesterday. Granddaughter's are gone. One back on campus; other about 2 hours from Myrtle Beach as of an hour ago. Visitation & celebration of life this evening, then to daughter & SIL's to celebrate oldest grandson's 12th birthday. Boys are on spring break this week. They'll spend Wednesday night and most of Thursday with us while daughter/SIL do final walk-through on their house then proceed to closing. Daughter has invited me for walk-through. Stage 1 of moving will begin late Thursday. Friday-Sunday will be moving party. I've got a 27' U-Haul truck reserved for Friday & Saturday. Only going about 10 miles, one way. Unfortunately, the weather forecast doesn't appear promising. Fortunately though, I'm mainly the truck driver, load inspector.and donut monitor. Having a bad back does have its perks.
March 27, 20233 yr Popular Post Yet another somber day for me. I had one nephew that was the only other woodworker in my extended family. In fact, my shop was to go to him if something happened to me. Last week he died of a heart attack...at age 47! So later today is the funeral visitation I'll be attending; it was so hard on my sister she was hospitalized for an uncontrolled heart rate for a day. Not looking forward to this a all, and I can't help but wonder why some of us have to go so early in life.

Prayers to you, the entire family and especially your sister during this difficult time. May the peace of God which transcends all understanding be with you all.

March 27, 20233 yr Popular Post Monday? Woke up early to what sounded like a small dog howling at the moon. Thought for a minute the bratty kid 2 doors down might have gone werewolf for the night. Paid a few bills. Played with the Taig CNC mill a bit. A little more yard work to do and hoping the temp will rise a little more before getting to that. 4D
