IIRC 4.5mm was the local limit. My first trip a few years back measured that size. Dr. finally determined to release me vs using ultra-sound. She claimed it's better that way vs breaking up into many smaller sizes. Still not sure who it was better for

I replied "I just don't see that happening".
March 29, 20233 yr Popular Post Hey @4DThinker . How did you ever get the city to come in with all that equiment to remove all that stuff ? Around here you have to hire a private contractor to do that.

The city does this every spring. They send a notice with the water bill to have whatever lawn debris you need to get rid of by the curve on a certain day depending on which quadrant of the city you live in. I try and take advantage of it if I can remember. Past years before I retired it was a hit or miss opportunity. Trash companies also agree to haul away bagged leaves/needles for no extra fee during the week.
March 30, 20233 yr Well, I know nothing is free. Guess you must be paying for it in your tax bill. Still wish it was done here. Trash Company offers nothing free. Pay $112.00 quarterly for trash pick up .Extra fee for recyclables .Leaf removal is done by homeowner or contractor, and there is annual fee to be able to take them to the cycling center.
March 30, 20233 yr Popular Post City started doing this when global warmup began reducing the number of snow days we had each year. This year for example I never needed to bring out my electric snow blower to clear driveway or sidewalks. Money saved not having to clear and spread salt on the roads they didn't want to give up, so spring cleanup became the brilliant idea to keep the trucks running and employees with something to do. Side effect of global warmup is a longer growing season, which contributes to the need for tree trimming and fallen branch removal. Taxes have indeed been creeping up, but with each 1/4% sales tax increase justified for city road or local airport expansion projects. College sports teams usually bring in large crowds and the road improvements have been a cost share with the state/via the state college and profits from ticket sales and licensing fees.
March 30, 20233 yr Popular Post @4DThinker Not sure where you are located in Kansas, I spent about 3 years in Wichita at McConnell AFB during the 50's. While I was there the base was used to train pilots to fly the B-47 bomber. On the other side of the runway Boeing was testing the B-52 which is still being used today, At that time the base was still called Wichita municipal Airport until Wichita finished their new airport The name change occured when I was there in honor of Fred and Thomas McConnell local brothers who were both pilots during WW11. People there treated us great. The USO was always busy and i among others had a favorite hangout called "The Pirates Cave". Just never got used to all that flat land there so came back to the hills in the east When I was discharged. Edited March 30, 20233 yr by Al B

March 30, 20233 yr Wichita was where I lived during the story above. Early 80s then. Worked at a sign company (Graphic Systems Inc.) designing sign systems including the parking lot signage for the Wichita Airport and one of the Wichita hospitals (St. Francis perhaps?). Started life in Abilene, spent a few childhood years in Great Bend where my Dad grew up. Ended up in Manhattan. Flint hills make this area more topographically interesting than most of KS, but a flat lander I am. A trip to North Carolina for graduate school made me nervous a bit as the forested and more mountainous areas between here and there were a bit spooky to my younger self.
March 30, 20233 yr Gunny, had one that IIRC was 4 CM, wouldn’t wish that on anyone. Got torridoll (?) IV. Supposedly it’s like liquid ibuprofen, or something like that. All I know is it worked, I passed the stone the next morning, and also stopped drinking the iced tea the next morning. Was the worst I ever felt, and it was a different kind of pain. Throbbed right through me. Hope it passes soon!
