September 30, 20223 yr Popular Post Friday again folks, we survived another week. Here in the land of "Two Weeks From Anywhere" it's the big push day for getting the new JRV (Junk Rescue Vehicle) ready for the fall "Curb Shopping" season which starts tomorrow. Earlier during the week it took three of us to get the roof rack on the van, got it mounted, the sides installed and yesterday I modified a bunk bed ladder to mount on the rear door. I'll be installing it today. This roof rack will save the roof from getting caved in like Bruce's other vans. There's still work to be done, but will be put off a week while the JRV goes through it's shake down test run. I don't see any big problems arising, but one never knows. I'll try to remember to get some photo's so you can see why I named this one the JRV. I need a break anyway, so I can do what might just be the last mow of the season, and get back to closing the Pilot "Mouse Motel". I'll also be "Batching" it this weekend as the wife is headed north to visit her sister with our son, and my stepson. The stepson is going up to set up his tree stand for the bow hunting deer season. So, that's my weekend plans, "What's on Your Weekend Agenda?
September 30, 20223 yr Popular Post I sucked it up and went to Atlanta yesterday to pick up three sheets of 1/2" apple ply. No 3/4" baltic birch to be had anywhere except for a few small pieces scattered around at different stores. That was an all day trip; I hate driving in and around Atlanta... Likely go pick up some (1/4")(3/16") luan or some type plywood today at Big Blue. Then I can get to work on a dresser build for our daughter. I've grown to really dislike working with these full size sheets of plywood, no matter the thickness. A few more projects and maybe I can put this type woodworking behind me. Will have a couple college ball games on in the shop while I get started on the dresser tomorrow. I might even take the Duster up to the cruise in tomorrow evening if I feel like it. Should be a nice evening for it.
September 30, 20223 yr Popular Post Not 100% sure about what to do in the shop this weekend. I'll see what inspires me when I go out there. I'm taking some vacation time starting 10/10. We are traveling to Corpus Christi and Port Aransas TX. Plan to take in the USS Lexington, Texas State Aquarium, and a fishing charter in the Gulf. Son will get to visit some friends from school and I'm absolutely certain Mrs. Boss will keep us busy with other stuff. .40

However, full sheets aren't necessary. Although, somebody's gotta break 'em down. Guess you could get that done at the yard/store. Nevertheless, my projects' sizes will be limited to those that can be held in one hand....well, maybe two...but, the dolly has definitely been retired!
September 30, 20223 yr Popular Post Finally beginning to have some energy 2 weeks after COVID cooties hit. Lots of yard work to catch up in preparation for winter to come. Gonna hold off mowing until first of week. Need to get back on truck rear brake issue. I was promised yesterday shop would start on Trailblazer today...been there 2 weeks. Buick was transferred from local GM hospital to an independent rehab facility yesterday. GM dealer wanted to replace the engine at $8500. New GM crate engine can be had for $3500 delivered. Must be new math. Independent facility boasts they can fix it but can't start on it until 10/5. Mrs. Grandma Grandpadaves weekend to work so I'm mostly unsupervised. Hard to forecast what mischieveness projects might garner my attention.

September 30, 20223 yr Popular Post Back is starting to improve, a lot less pain. Hardest part is trying not to do something that might make it worse. Of course, this doesn’t help This is Beauregard L. B. He arrived Wednesday. We lost our Dudley in July, he was only 4. Let the potty training begin!

September 30, 20223 yr Popular Post Started today clearing out my wood stash I had for years. The property has been sold where the barn was and I’m clearing out the barn. This is the 1st of many loads I’ve got to get. Going to be a busy weekend.

Ughh I hate moving more than just about anything I can think of. I'd rather have my hair set on fire and then put out with a sledge hammer. Best of luck to you! .40

After our loss earlier this week I want to move on getting another dog, but probably next spring. I don't think either one of us could mange to do the housebreaking thing through the holidays and winter. But I really wish we could.

Many of them are already trained and gone into rescue through a variety of circumstances. Our stray rescue border collie was very well trained and we often wonder about what happened with him. We feel very fortunate, and hopefully he does too.
