We've had a little over 3" of rain in the past 3 days, a little late for the corn but good for the ground water.

@Gerald is working on different methods of adding embellishments to some platters. I especially like this one-

For The Newbies-

It's always nice to get a new lathe. It's even nicer to have someone review that product after using it for a while. What's good, what's not so good. Here Mike Peace reviews his new Powermatic 3520C-

Next weekend we will be at our VA-65 Navy reunion. I haven't seen the guys in several years and am glad to be able enjoy the comradery. There's only a few of us original A-6 guys left who come to these get togethers. We try to raise some money to to cover expenses for the host of the reunion. Mimi said I should make something to auction off. I had a platter I turned from white oak and decided to laser our insignia in it. Maybe someone will like it-

Safe turning

Thanks for taking the time to put this together Lew.  I always find something interesting to view and enjoy the recap from the week.  This week the texturing catches my eye.

Thanks for the post Lew. Platter looks great . Now tell us what is a A-6 guy?

The A-6 "Intruder" was the first true all-weather Navy attack aircraft. VA-65 was one of the first 3 navy squadrons to get the A-6. VA-75 and VA-85 were the other 2. This was in the 1963-64 time frame. I worked on the A-6A version. Our squadron commander was instrumental in convincing "Washington" of the importance of the program despite the bugs in the highly complex system. The A-6E were flown up into 1997. The airframe was used to build the the EA-6B Prowler which still flies today

Your platter is super Lew, enjoy the reunion :)
