January 10, 20224 yr Popular Post Quiet weekend. Nasty weather most of it so garage remains closed until fair weather returns from the Southern hemisphere. Church yesterday; meeting there tonight. A few honey-do jobs, couple of errands and hang out here for remainder of the week. As always, if you're working in your shops, keep your fingers and hands away from spinning blades, bits, wear safety glasses plus hearing protection and nearly as important, have fun doing what you do.
January 10, 20224 yr Popular Post Got my miter saw cabinet installed. The DC pipe that goes to it has been shortened. And that left it unsupported for 3 feet. Looked at the larger picture and decided to built a shelf with brackets. One of which will accommodate DC pipe and keep in place. Upgrade to existing shelf is a big positive. Now to get it manufactured. Brackets. Shelf. Edited January 10, 20224 yr by Gunny

January 11, 20224 yr Popular Post Season decorations removed and stored. Tree curbside for recycle pickup. Pulling cherry wood for some handles. Looking for some pear or peach for rolling pin. My garage has become a giant treasure chest.
January 11, 20224 yr Popular Post Yesterday in the shop was semi productive. Lately, that's been the norm. Lots of interruptions. Today, it's fasting labs at the VA. Appt. at 07:30. Then, I've got to get an emissions test done on the truck so DOT will issue a new license plate. First, I've got to find an authorized test site. Oh well, I get to explore more of Tucson. Today is shot!
January 11, 20224 yr Popular Post It took 9 days, but yesterday the last of the decorations were put away. The rest of the day was spent switching cell phone carriers, setting up some appointments for me as well as the dog, and trying to remember the recipe for the stuff I fixed for dinner. Pretty sure I got the recipe part wrong, it wasn't really that good.
January 11, 20224 yr Popular Post Well being it's Tuesday, and we did a put off today(yesterday) what we can do tomorrow.(today) Today we'll be re-piping that 30' section of condensate return lines. You wouldn't believe a couple of the quotes he was given. Luckily the neighbor knows a retired pipe-fitter.
January 11, 20224 yr Popular Post Ileene is on her monthly road trip to Monterey so I am bachin it for a couple days. Decorations still up but I’m at least thinking about taking them down. That’s a start. I’m continuing on with the ceiling tiles in the media room and also get the name plates on the bottom of the turnings. Paul

January 11, 20224 yr Popular Post Wife said we are starting to get income tax papers in and needs a place to store them for tax prep. Somehow the Rubbermaid tote we've been using for a few years went AWOL. Since she's a retired EA and CPA, I am more than happy to have her do our tax prep yearly. So off the the shop. Hit the lumber stash and done.
January 11, 20224 yr Popular Post Guess I did not go back and read these yesterday. Got the lights and outdoor decorations packed yesterday. Finally got started on some steps for the church pulpit. They had one made and wanted one for the other side. Looked at the first set Sunday and turns out who ever made it used all 18G brads and no glue. We shall do better on this one . Went over to a turning friends yesterday to get some parts to redo some of my dust collection ducts. Hoping this will enhance my airflow.
January 11, 20224 yr Popular Post fancy box! this year is awesome: i get to do our Fed tax return, our State (NM) tax return, my Dad's last Fed return, and my Dad's trust Fed tax return. papers! lots and lots of papers. i'm good on our tax returns, done them for many years, but I may enlist some help to make sure Dad's returns are up to snuff, so i can close out that loose end of his estate. maybe even get a refund, which us kids will divide up in some manner.

January 12, 20224 yr Popular Post Was way too busy to think about it being a Monday...until today....did quite a bit of shopping for both me, the Boss, and the Shop....not sure which order that came in...Dropped the Boss off at Wall E. World..then did my shopping...came back to Wall E. World to find the Boss ( somewhere in thar..) and do a bit of shopping for me. Spent most of today doing naps...driving the Boss to Krogers...and more naps...big ticket item for me? Also, needed a blade for the repaired bandsaw... Some new blades for the scrollsaw.. Due to the lack of any channel lock style pliers in the house during the Kitchen drain repairs.. And a few clamps...can never have too many clamps... So...I threw the old sanding center out to the curb..installed the new blade in the bandsaw...and hung up the clamps.. Gives me a set of eight 12" clamps Unable to get another stash of Ash until next month..may switch to Pine for the next Project..

January 12, 20224 yr Popular Post Life is full of surprises, and usually when you least expect it. I had updated my resume on a recruiting site. Suddenly I am a hot commodity and have had 9 employers express interest in contacting me about a job. Spoke with one today, would be a bit of a drive for me but I did like the 3 weeks of vacation and complete health insurance premium coverage. While I was not looking to change work, I gotta admit MORE than 1 week of vacation a year would be nice. What still amazes me is that 10 1/2 hour days still seem to be the norm in the automotive industry. I have no desire to work 50+ hours a week, and said as much to the employer I spoke with today. To me 8 hours a day is enough, and I made it clear I have a disability which will be addressed, even if I need to work only 4 days a week. Next up, will the pay be on par with TODAY's standards or these 25 years ago, this is best we can offer deals.
