Worked on handles for a Fire Stix I make for shows. Worked on a prototype seam ripper today and think I am ready on this as a new product for shows. Like to see what you did

August 14, 20214 yr Popular Post Have porch ceiling to remove paint with a soda blaster. Hope not to put any holes in the bead board. John Morris, I have BTDT for both my parents and wife's parents. I have lost an aunt and uncle in the past few months but did not take my time. She had a couple of strokes and he expired from pancreatic cancer. My wife needs much attention. With her dementia, she keeps trying to answer the phone using the remote. I tell her, teasingly, press the purple button. I have no idea what to do with mental patients. Got a surprise today. 50 years ago, the neighbor planted English Ivy to climb this live oak tree. The ivy vine grew to about 4 inches in diameter. We cut it a couple years ago and today, I noticed that it had fallen from the oak tree. It looks like wood, so I am going to harvest some to see how it works. Will get pictures.
August 14, 20214 yr Popular Post Prayers out for you and your family @John Morris @Fred W. Hargis Jr - You may have an Elberta, lucky you! Elbertas are one of the later varieties to ripen, bright yellow orange inside, freestone and super sweet. Around here we expect a good Elberta to be about the size of a softball. Yours appear to be a bit smaller than that, but that may be due to not thinning enough in the spring. I would love to have an Elberta in our yard, but around here it is so humid during the summer that a weekly spray schedule of all sorts of chemicals insects, molds and other pests are a necessity. Signed: Cal Hyer Byron, Ga. Peach County!

He had written this a little while back- Ok gang here is the deal, I have left the rehab/ nursing home and gone to live with family. I am still trying to get my strength back but it will take a lot of effort and time. To those of you who I left behind, I hated doing it but really I had no choice. I am now in Hopkinsville KY and doing ok so far. My strength is still the priority. One day I will get the lathe fired up again, but for the moment, I can’t. There is no room to do so. August 14, 20214 yr Popular Post Drawer #5 is IN the clamps...waiting on glue to cure.. Maybe one of these years...I might get the hang of these sort of dovetails? Some day?

Made a dam with duct tape on the exterior surface since this went all the way through Put a thin layer of the inlay material into the hole Drench with thin Starbond CA glue Spray with Accellerator Repeat until filled above surface Let dry and turn. Will cut, sand, and polish. For the smaller inlays that didn't go through, I used the dremel to flare the base (kind of a reverse dovetail) to lock the material in the void. .40
August 15, 20214 yr Popular Post @forty_caliber - That brass looks nice, where did you obtain the metal powder from? Please post up more pics after you have applied a finish to the bowl, I suspect it will look even better!

That's all of the finishing I'm planning to do. The inlay material came from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0731GCRWR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 It's a very fine yellow powder. You can see some waste on the bench in a couple of the photos. .40
