What did you use for your finials, @artie ?

I was thinking lamp hardware would be good for this project.

  • So, the first 5 trees are done. Overall I thought they came out better than I deserve, for my lack of finishing skills, and patience. I made some changes going in. I Knew Iwas gonna paint them, becaus

  • The recovery is going well Artie. My vision has returned to normal. I'll be seeing my opthamologist in Dec. to get clearance to drive. Legs still need a bit of coaxing, but I'd say I'm at 80% or maybe

looks great.

Looking for something to do, I got pieces cut for 4 of them this afternoon.  I laid them out so they were set up with minimal waste.  Sort of like this.  Got the 1/4" holes drilled and need to run out tomorrow for some hardware.  What did you use for your finials, @artie ?

It was from Brass lamp parts, or something like that, I’ll try to look them up. I found a place that sells very thin washers, I put one in between each pieces, so they can rotate without wearing out the paint (Hopefully). I bought a 9/32 bit, made assembling them easier after painting, just let the threaded rod go through a little easier. I also bought a 15/16 Forster bit for a deeper, fuller cup...HUH? What are we talking about? LOL. The 7/8 holes after I was done painting weren’t as good a fit as I woulda liked.

Would a nylon washer work?

Got some acorn nuts for at least temporary.  Made a gigantic cross cut sled today so I can cut the angles on the piece starting out 16x36.   I cut dovetail dados so I can use my MatchFit clamps to do any angle I need.

Did a last grocery run today.  It was a zoo, and another store was even more of a zoo yesterday (lots of shoppers, including the ones on the phone with their significant other ("did you want the 12 oz or the 18 oz size??), dozens of people stocking shelves, and more doing curb-side pickup giant totes with 8 crates.)  I do not want to go anywhere near a grocery store in the next two days.

Can’t see why not, I just wanted to keep the pieces from rubbing against each other.
