Either way fortunately as stated I have two of them. Bought two for a reason. I'll just order a new tip and call that one for now LOL. I do not think the heat treat is a problem. I have a friend who bent his hollower twice. He called them and they gave him a number of times it could be bent back . Don't remember how many but more than I would have thought. Hope @Jim from Easy Wood Tools will chime in on this. By the way on carbides it is best to loosen screw and turn after each use and clean if necessary. Artie, Gunny and FlGatorwood 3 Quote
FlGatorwood Posted August 9, 2020 Report Posted August 9, 2020 @lew, I am looking forward to the completion and finishing of your bowl. I am so sorry that this cracked so badly on you, but I really like the bowtie. I have watched the rest of the videos. I can't understand the Deustch, but it is impressive. I did watch the video of the man making the ball. That is awesome. The burl box was also awesome. I have to quit watching as I get more ideas than I have time to perform. Thanks, again. One rougher is good how ever the one with my regular carbide tip rougher is rounded out completely, cleaned it out really dang well and no luck. I'm almost wondering if crazy glue would work in this situation basically glue onto the screw and then twist out from the bottom. Not sure if that would even work. The tool is still good the carbide tip is still good still got 3 sides to use, how ever I don't want the carbide to go to waste because of a screw LOL. just gotta work something out. Fortunately for me I have two roughers LOL. To avoid this in the future we always suggest a dab of grease on the screw threads whenever you change the screw. This helps a lot. Also, be sure not to over-tighten, snug will do it. In the mean time see attached help sheet. In the end, if you can't get it, send it to us we will return it to you with a fresh new cutter installed, no charge. Hope this helps. AndrewB Posted August 10, 2020 Report Posted August 10, 2020 Thanks... Its not too huge of an issue. I still need to get doubles for my easy start detailer and easy start finisher. As a rule of thumb I always try to have multiples of the same tool just in case something happens. Al B and FlGatorwood 2 Quote
FlGatorwood Posted August 10, 2020 Report Posted August 10, 2020 Jim, I am wondering if a dab of Johnson's paste wax would be helpful. It seems if the screw is coated with the wax, it should be easy to remove. I welcome your comments. Larry Buskirk 1 Quote

When we turn all kinds of "stuff" gets into the threads, sawdust, pitch, sap, finish, water... all kinds of "stuff" to gunk up the threads. That should help as well.
