Ok folks, I have been testing a way to archive topics instead of using the laborious task of going through the topics in Free For All and saving the important ones and deleting the one liner jokes and stuff like that.

Firstly, I'd like to thank @Fred W. Hargis Jr for suggesting the auto deletion of Free For All topics before a certain time period. I researched that and found that our software is incapable of performing that function. So I went off on another idea thanks to Fred's suggestion, and poked around and I found that we can set a time period in a specific forum to "Auto Archive" topics, this will send those topics to another database I have created, and save us operational resources here on TPW. You will still be able to view the topics, but you'll notice a gray bar at the top that states this topic has been archived and replies are locked, since it's only in a view state.

So I have decided to set the timer at 6 month, any topic that is 6 months or older than the current date, will be auto archived, this only will happen for our Free For All forum, and the forums titled "XXX Archives".

For example, the sub-forum at General Woodworking titled "Woodworking Archives" will completely be archived, because all of those topics are more than 6 months old.

There is one issue with this at this point and time, some of those long running topics in Free For All will be archived too, since they were started more than 6 months ago. Someone, will have to restart those topics if they want to continue using them.

Thank you all

Nice work around John. I enjoy the morning jokes.

I think I am actually seeing an speed increase in the loading of pages on TPW too, that is what I was hoping for.

Thanks, John. Re: page loading speed. It's never been a problem at this end. Pictures have always been slow but, I blame my $%&+# wifi connection. Some other sites' pictures do load a tiny bit faster, though. Text pages are never slow.

That's because Gene we don't have a limit on the size of images to upload here, so the folks that load up the mb size images, their images load slowly on any desktop or PC, the smaller images in the kb size load quite quickly. If you all can, don't dwell on it, but if you do load up images try resizing them first, then they'll make our page loads with images much faster, and conserve server space.

I usually reduce any I post, since it makes the upload faster...I imagine that those of us with less-than-optimal IP connections see them faster when we read the post as well.

When I'm in the same room with the Wifi doohicky, I do notice faster picture page loads, now.
