It starts with a good square frame with braces for the doorknob. I made the center brace with knob supports for both sides because it was easier to make the brace then insert into the frame. Plus If I screw up I have a 2nd chance. The vents are roof vents, they were the size I wanted and made installation easy. I had considered making my own but when I saw these thought, why??? $7 each. So I splurged. Dry fit after skins glued on. Paint process begins. Fred W. Hargis Jr, Gerald, FlGatorwood and 2 others 5 Quote

Here is shop doors, with diamond plate added at bottom. I joked with my wife it was armored plated. These were made same way as the new ones, just 20 years ago. Instead of a roof vent I used two windows I got on clearance. Gerald, FlGatorwood, Artie and 3 others 6 Quote

Been carefully watching @steven newman with his builds for these desks and cabinets. So I feel ready to tackle making a new computer desk for my wife. Dovetails will NOT be used for the drawers, but I did get a nice router bit set from @Gene Howe that creates a lock for the corners. That will work for me. Now getting details out of my wife for color, as in stain or paint. Then size of drawers that will take some doing. A proper interrogation is in order as she might say. FlGatorwood, p_toad, Fred W. Cal Posted December 4, 2019 Report Posted December 4, 2019 That was great Gunny, and I can certainly relate to taking on a long term project and getting sidetracked by several other projects along the way Look forward to seeing the computer desk come along, for some strange reason I can't visualize a "simple" computer desk... Popular Post 1fizgig Posted December 4, 2019 Popular Post Report Posted December 4, 2019 More often the complications come from SWMBO, who can't decide the final product! Been on the end of that before. Gunny, Al B, Artie and 2 others 5 Quote
