October 19, 20187 yr Popular Post Well it seems as if fall has arrived. Last week it was in the 90’s and this week we are in the low 70’s. I love the cooler weather and we are busy in the shop. Today we are working on making and 8’, 2” thick Cherry Cross. Working on the half lap joints right now. At the assembly table we are ready pieces for cutting boards. And of course we still have cornhole boards everywhere. Last week I build this display piece for the range to put AR rifles in a horizontal position. i used my CNC to cut the mortises for the upright pieces. Finished it and took it to the range. So lots going on here and we are readying for Christmas. Whats on on your weekend agenda? I always love love to see your projects and hear about what you are working on. Share your photos and projects. Whatever you you do have fun and work safe!
October 19, 20187 yr Popular Post Next few days will involve M@B (Mundane and Boring) projects..ie cleaning and reorganizing. After that, installing a Shelix head in the DW 735. Then, router flattening a mesquite slab for my son. It'll be an end table for which he'll fabricate hair pin legs. After that, either start building a chain driven router lathe, ala Bill Hylton or, build a power carving station with a turn table and, a DC system like Herb built for sanding. All that ought to fill my time till Tuesday. Dunno how I'll spend the rest of the week.

As far as projects I'm like Stick486 they're TBD. Right now the weather is.
October 19, 20187 yr Popular Post Well, I have this little end table I'm finishing. It took me almost three years to build it, maybe less to finish it. This was a plan in the Wood Nov. 2015 issue. I started it when that issue came out (they get mailed about 3 months before the cover date) and right after I started My wife found this house. All my woodworking was put aside while we went through the buying process, and then moving (not to mention selling the old house). I had glued up blanks for the legs and shelf, as well as made a template to trim the legs (flush trim bit). All that was stretched wrapped together and I marked the template with the source issue so I could go back and look. I had completely forgotten about until I moved my remaining small stuff to the shop a few weeks back, and found this in the piles. So I went ahead and finished the legs, put a top together, and have it ready for finish. So 3 years later it's built. Funny thing, we had a use for this at our last house.....not so much in this one. Oh,well.

October 19, 20187 yr Popular Post Past Week: Got all vehicles oil/filter changed/serviced/winterized; mower, oil/filter/serviced, still have to finish cleaning & coating the deck; all gas cans filled/fuel treated; made one trip to the Covered Bridge area flea markets, a few (very few) outside projects since the weather was so accommodating and maintained the house with everyone gone. Several games of ball with the dog; probably explains the on-going shoulder pain. Weekend: finish the mower and maybe do some mowing depending if we get the wintery mix on Saturday. Unlike @John Moody's weather change, ours dropped from upper 80's near 90o to 2 days only in the mid 40's and nights in upper 20's to low 30's; Four mornings this past with heavy frost. Not sure yet when the brood will return from Florida so I need to convert the bachelor pad back to a family dwelling to be ready. Anything else TBD.
October 19, 20187 yr Popular Post Actually just glued the last piece for my brother’s manger. Now I just gotta get it ready for finishing (when the glue dries).
October 19, 20187 yr Popular Post I just delivered a primitive lamp stand for a lady in our bible study. She gave me a picture of one that her sister had and asked me to duplicate it. It was a porch post that they cut off. Here’s the original and what I built.

October 19, 20187 yr Popular Post I've been working on the "Christmas Shoe Box" cars. Got those finished and delivered last week. Fun project and for a good cause. Made close to 100 this year!

Looking great Artie...you'll need a trip to Michael's or Hobby Lobby for some miniature straw bales and/or straw like material for the floor. I guess you could use artificial pine too.

I guess you could use artificial pine too. My wife prefers Joann’s, the straw is in a box, under the dresser, in the basement. I think the shipping was more than the straw. We bought enough to replace our straw also (our straw is probably original to 1967).
