I'll post images of my beloved machines I am parting with to make way for a new adventure in woodworking. 

I need to free up space, and head in a new direction for me. 

I already shedded my bandsaw, router table, and now my trusty ol Grizz 12" 5hp. She served us well. New owner will be here in a few minutes, but for now, take a bow sweetheart, you served us well over the last 20 years!

 

 

My router table walked out of here on Friday, minus the tools of course. It was another great machine, I made many raised panel doors on it, swung some big cutters on it with my PC 7518 bolted up under, and I shaped a few beautiful sculpted rockers on it.

 

The people I am meeting while performing this task has been a wonderful experience, the gent who came and left with my table, is from Mexico, he builds Aztec flutes and Aztec drums, he showed me his work and it's absolutely beautiful, we sat and talked woodworking, about his hometown of Durango Mexico, and about his family, and mine, and we traded tips for woodworking, his name is Oscar, great guy. I was happy to see my table go to him. He is starting his own business, from his home, building his instruments.

 

My bandsaw, it went to a woodworker from Orange County, the other county over from us, another good guy, a woodworker who is starting his own shop, and he was very happy with my 14" BS with 6" riser. I made another friend in him, as a matter of fact, he signed up here on TPW, @JohnM.

 

This is a big step for me, us, my family, but I am diving in with all three feet, and ready for my new adventure in a downsized shop, making my beloved chairs and shaker crafts.

Oh they are John, they are, only two of em John, I always have one right foot for reserve.

I appreciate your meme, believe me, this has been long thought out, over the course of a couple two to three years, this was not an overnight decision. But, thank you for the reminder.

This Rockwell Delta 15" drill press has been a good machine, but it is ready for a new home. I purchased this press 15 years ago, and outfitted it with a Rockler's table. It's been a great machine, but I am getting tired of lifting the table manually, and I don't have the gumption to mount a hand crank with gear strip on the column. So she's on the block as well.

That being said, my new Shopsmith really excels in the drill press mode! I love the variable speed on demand as compared to the Rockwell, having to reach in and change the belt to the proper pully. The Shopsmith I simply grab the dial, and turn, and my speed is set.

Another machine, taking a bow, thank you drill press, you did well my old friend, you did well indeed!

 

This is not just a Delta, 15" drill press it is a vintage Delta drill press and a pretty darn nice one at that...just adds another $100 to the value beyond the add-ons.

In fact it is a classic...some lucky Kallyfournean is gonna' be quite proud to get a chance to own this one.

That said, I've always heard/read, one of the best features of a SS is the drill press function so this looks like a win-win deal in the works.

It is nice drill press Gramps. It's done everything I ever asked of it, I even used it with a Delta mortising attachment and it worked fine.

The new owner will be happy with this machine, whoever that may be, I hope as interesting as the gents I have met so far. Each machine that has left my shop, I have gotten a warm fuzzy feeling over where they are ending up, that is important to me.

Hey John, you want to be cautious when using the SS for any future mortis work. Might want to rig some supports for the table. VOE.

OTOH, I would consider selling my benchtop PC Machine. Only used to make two Morris chairs. 

 

Gene, I am not using it on the SS. I used it on the Delta, and it's going with the Delta.

Somebody is going to get a deal. So, only hand chopped ones from now on?
