OK, rehabs are done for now.....have a small stack of thin Poplar boards...

Hiding in a corner for a reason?    Mainly 1/2" thick 1x8s and 1x10s,with a couple 4/4 slabs thrown in.

 

Why are they hiding?

Because there is this stack of Cherry..

Lots of 4/4 x 6 and 4/4 x 8......Some of them are 6/4 pieces..

Some of the shorter stuff is 14"+ wide

 

Single Brain Cell Sketch Up will be working overtime.....on this stash from Charles Neil at the Shindig' scrap pile.

 

Might take a while..stay tuned for updates...

Looks like you better get the planes fine tuned...I see some finger &/or dovetailed joined tool cases in the crystal ball; maybe a cherry side table with drawer, possibly a Shaker style wall cabinet with panel door(s) (PM me if you want a set of plans for that one); or ???

Resaw of four leg blanks from one board...didn't go too well.    We have ways...

Three planes here,  A #5-1/2 set coarse, a #0-7 set not so coarse, then follow up with the #8 set fine..

Until I get all rough edges smoothed out...

Taking a dry-out break....I am soaked through.   No AC in the Dungeon.   Maybe later, I can mill down a few "rails"  to go between these legs.

My Single Brain Cell Sketch Up doing fairly well, right now

Hauled a rather plain looking board to the shop.....aprons and a couple stretchers.....Bandsaw to resaw to width.   Had to cut a few to length.   Used a  Circular saw to get the main cuts down...used a mitre saw to make the smaller cuts..

Hey, it is a cordless model.   Had a lot of saw marks to get rid of..

Hmmm...something does not look very "plain" here...

 

Ran a few planes down the edges..

Didn't need them huge jointer planes, these will do.  Note what showed up?

Great, NOW  I have to hope I find a few more of these "plain" boards in the stash.....too far to drive to Charles' place.

Lunch Break!   This morning's misadventures?

Well, I figured out that the 30" front and back aprons were too long ( better than being too short?) So the mitersaw was used to cut them down to 26"

Laid out for 3/4" long tenons.   Bandsaw didn't like the next part..

Turned thing a brownish colour. 

Ok, set up a plane..

With a #23 bead cutter..

Plane is set, but...how to hold them squirrely parts still long enough?    I drilled a hole through each tenon.   Never going to be seen.   The bottom of the legs will get a stretcher, running front to rear.   They get four beads..

The aprons only get one bead, as the rest  wouldn't show...

You can just barely make out the screw through the tenon.   Plane to smooth the face that will show.   Note the single bead?

Will leave the Stanley 45 set up, as the legs will get a corner bead...after a bit of chopping gets done..

Yes, I do the tenons first, then size the mortise to them.  It also pays to mark which side is which..

F/L and F/R.    Arrows to show where the apron will be.

Might take a while....stay tuned

Oh, wow. You got some nice stuff there. I do remember the Rachel's Desk episodes, should turn out nice.
