Thanks, Mike!  Do you leave the protective paper on the Plexiglas?  I've seen videos with the paper off but I don't know if that's so the video looks better or if you're supposed to leave it off.  I don't want to scratch it but I also don't want the paper getting in the way.

Always leave to coating on!

I haven't cut a whole lot of plastic with CNC but I always leave the protection on it.  It does act as a heat sink and some actually act as a lubricant to a certain degree, but it is there to protect the surface until the project is built.  You may have to hit pause now and then to remove any that decides to wrap up on the bit but most should cut clean with a sharp bit. I have never had it do that to me but I have had a couple of people say it does it to them.

I have cut a lot of acrylic mirror with a hand held router and 2 flute straight bits and quite a bit on the table saw and it cuts real good but I have always used a good sharp bit or blade.  I've used a router to trim acrylic table tops that were 1 1/2 thick and again with sharp 2 flute straight bits it cuts well.

The Management

WOW!!!

John the CNC Forum setup and descriptions look good to me.  They should help keep like content together for easier searching.

But

I think the files section needs to have a third category for how to or reference content.

The CAD category can be used for vectors, bitmaps, 3d models and design files for projects.  I think this one will probably get most of the files because most of them will be usable by most CNC users.  The design files would be the least shared type files in this category.

The CAM category will not get as much use as the CAD category because these files will be specific to each operating control system but will be helpful to share subroutines for some systems like touch plate operation gcode files.

Thanks Michael, You had mentioned a third category for the share files department, what would the name of that third category be? Thanks!

Now, the rest of you get to work...

Very awesome!

Excellent job, John!!  I just kicked off the CNC build category with the story of our build that began a year ago, almost to the day.

Possibly "Reference and How To" or "Reference and Tutorials" or maybe just "Reference"

Important thing is to have a place to upload PDF files that are not intended for vector use in a design file.  The "this is the way to do it" type documents or the "differences between A and B reviews".  I may be wrong but these documents don't fit in the CAD or CAM categories.

Your absolutely correct Michael, PDFs go into a different files category. Thanks for the clarification! When I get home tonight I'll fire up that category as well. Thanks so much.

Best management team I've ever "worked" for.

No where on web forums is there responses to users request that match what you've done here John!
