February 18, 20179 yr Folks, I am looking for a tenon cutter along the lines of these, I could purchase one from Mr. Elia, and I just may, I could make one but reality is, I don't feel like it. Though I may. Do you know of any other retailers who sell tenon cutters. I would prefer a 5/8". Or, plans, I may make one too. But, I would prefer to purchase if the price was reasonable. Thanks folks.

Thanks Stick, looking at images of wood tenon cutters they don't seem that complicated to make, I could do it without plans the more I think on it. See this fellows home made cutter at the top of the image with the "C" clamp, it's just a plane blade and a block of wood with the tenon hole proper size drilled into it. It is tapered but I like the look of tapered tenons in chair rungs, you don't have that pesky little shoulder that is traditionally exposed on the rung, it's accurate for the shoulder to be exposed, but just because they did it 200 years ago, don't make it right, I like the smooth transition of the chair rung to the hole when using tapered tenons. February 18, 20179 yr I'd think a hand tapered reamer would be just the ticket for the tapered hole...
