  • Here are the latest pieces. The rooks still need cuts on top and the knight needs sanding. That knight took the longest of any one piece. Much rather it had all been turned.

  • Finished the royalty today. Now on to the case. sorry about the side pic coukld not adjust in iphone.

  • Been a good week so far. Got the knights and rooks done.

I'm impressed...was wondering how you were doing the Queen & King...now I know...absolutely perfect with the others...Love it!

Even more impressive is your technique to get pieces to stay attached to the board when vertical:rolleyes:...now that's cool:D:lol::D

Great job Gerald...

I would have to check but the pawns are 1.25 inch at the base, king is 1.5 inch by 3 1/16 tall. Board is about 16 x 16 to say full size might be appropriate.

Very nice, how many hours do you think you will have in it by the time you finish?

Hard to say. The turning of the pieces took 20 to 30 minutes and then drilling for weights and epoxy....maybe 3 hours. The board 8-12 hours and then box also 8-12 hours. Then there will be finishing. So altogether (not counting planning) maybe 54 to 60 hours.

got the epoxy on the last of the chess pieces.

The box out of clamps and sanded. Top trim cut and now needs rabbits.

This is the jig I use to cut the 45's dead on.

Beyond cool,  beyond nice..............truly a work of art and a very skilled artist.

Yeppers...what he said!

Clever too on the 'weights' for each piece...not something I would have though about or considered.
