When I bought this hybrid 10" saw to replace my old Craftsman 8" stable saw it appear to have been a store sample or some such as the fence it came with and front bar were "pre-installed" with a scale strip marker focused on the metric side of the tape. No adjustment possible to move the lens up to the imperial scale. It also has a digital readout on the right side of the fence which works, but eats batteries as it can't be turned off. It also prevented me from using my fence on the left side of the blade. So today I decide to replace the scale and take off the digital readout. Ordered a new adhesive backed tape from Amazon then went about seeing what trouble it …

The throat plate on my table saw is unsupported on the end next to the blade opening, and flexes down when I'm cutting narrow strips. The strips often catch on the table lip which had been a nagging and dangerous problem since I bought the saw. Today I set out to either fix that problem or put the table saw on facebook market to to get rid of it. There is a blade housing edge below this area. I measured how thick it was, how far below the table surface it was, and how thick the throat plate was at the spot. I cut a slot the bottom end of a 1" wood dowel to slip over the blade housing, and stood it up to support the throat plate. I got l…

So, my inherited 10” Craftsman bench drill press is on the ropes. The motor is losing power and wants to stall but the drill is good other than that. I looked at replacing the motor (113.219100) but I can’t find a suitable replacement. Buying a new one isn’t an issue but two things are critical. Overall height and spindle travel. The 10” fits nicely on my bench (not too tall) and has a full 3” spindle travel. Unfortunately, many of the new one only have 2” of spindle travel. With all of that do y’all have any suggestions with either a replacement motor or a new press?

I have seen several YouTube videos about cutting dados with a table saw using a straight kerf saw blade. I have searched Amazon, Lowes and Home Depot and none of them seem to carry a table saw blade with straight kerfs. I even called an Ace Hardware store and they didn't have any in stock but they could order me one for a mere $120. Does anyone here know where I can purchase such a blade without taking out a loan? I have no desire (or bank roll) to get involved in dado stacks. It's just something I wanted to try but I'm not willing to shell out $120 for something I MIGHT use a couple of times a year or never again if I don't like the results. Any help would…

Got a great deal on a Dremel rotary saw with flex shaft at an estate sale. Flex shaft Model 961 requires an insert that did not come with the saw. Per Dremel, this model was discontinued in 2004. Does anyone have this saw and shaft? if so, can you post a pic of the insert along with rough dimensions?

If this is a proper enough place to ask a question,,, I am building another compressor. I am going to incorporate a moisture removal system.. Has anyone made a home-brew system beyond just adding a water trap. As it sits, I will be using a radiator from a car between the pump and tank then a water trap, then into the tank, then a desiccant dryer coming out of the tank. I am going to increase the fitting size wherever possible. Everything I have done in the past chokes down to 1/4" at some point and I want to increase that. I am starting with a home-owner level Craftsman 35 gallon tank, a Vevor pump head a Toyota radiator and various do-hickys and Chingaderas.. I have watc…

Looking through some pictures, I realized I have a few pretty illustrative ones from when I unloaded a very heavy machine a couple years ago. The main thing when it comes to moving machines is to have a plan that involves restricting movement of the heavy object to very small increments. Small is controlled. I have at my disposal, a flatbed trailer - I used to borrow one from a friend and then bought my own - and a cheap engine hoist from Tractor Supply. Harbor Freight would do just as well. Also have lots of 2" ratchet straps from Home Depot, some load chain and hooks, a come along winch, some surplus lifting straps from work (I grab them when …

Hello! I have been searching for a bandsaw to recut walnut for sometime now. I wanted to purchase new, but with all being made outside of America, I had to turn to the used market. I found this one locally at an online auction. I can go look at it on December 1st. The auction closes on December 4th. It currently is at 325.00. It is a Grizzly GO513ANIV. Here is a link to the auction. https://iversonauctioncompany.hibid.com/lot/271361225/grizzly-g0513anv-30th-anniversary-17--2hp-bandsaw?ref=catalog A few questions for the group. 1. Does Grizzly make good equipment? 2. When I go look at it, what should I be looking for? (I’ve never owned a bandsaw before) …

So, I'm finally getting started on the overhaul of my Delta 36-630 table saw. I already had the stand and everything else disassembled for my move earlier this year. I decided to go ahead and do an overhaul cleaning and maintenance while it's apart. I have the bearings out and will pick up replacements this week. Little did I know that the large washer flange thing on the inside of the arbor was actually pressed on the spindle, not threaded on. I used a pair of jaw pullers and it came off without further trouble. This leads me to my first question. How do I press that part back onto the arbor?? I'm also going to work on cleaning every moving part that is threa…

Wood Magazine just did a review of the four available - DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee, and Metabo. They all did pretty well with the Makita having things they liked best. The Metabo came in as best buy at $100 less. And the DeWalt was ridiculously expensive as it included the kit of batteries and charger. I'm never more than a few feet from an outlet, and I have 7 routers, so file me under "not interested"

Reading an article on various vendors' aftermarket miter stands. The Fe$tool one for the Kapex goes for $1058.94 (no discounts allowed). Couple that with the Kapex at $1800.94. With that and sales tax, you've got an almost $3000.00 set up.

I came across Sawblade.com while looking for bandsaw blades. Anyone here used them before? If yes, were you satisfied with what you got?

I do not have a Saw Stop and don't have an axe to grind--- so I understand the reasoning behind dropping the blade below the table to prevent accidental contact with the blade but what purpose is the brake that stops the blade? If the blade is already below the table top why do you need to stop the blade? chances are pretty remote that any part of you is going into the opening of the plate to get cut after the blade is dropped. it's expensive enough to have to replace the triggering cartridge, but why do you have to add the blade into the mix? Somebody please educate me. thks smitty
