  1. Just a good danged community of woodworkers, thank you all for being here. Whenever I come here, my spirit is renewed, I rejoice, I thank God for the trees He provides for the lumber I use, and I thank you all for broadening my view and exposure to the art, trades, and craft that is woodworking. Everyone here is greatly appreciated, I am personally humbled you all see this lil corner of the world known as The Patriot Woodworker, worthy of your time. And each time I leave our community here, I'm ready for the world, and I feel like DANCING! JUST LIKE THIS!
  2. Introduction Welcome to the "What's It" category for member submissions. After several years of having fun with the MWTCA What's It project, we are now asking our members to submit their own items, implements, and tools for us all to help figure out just what the heck it is! We are not closing down our MWTCA project, far from it, but we are opening a category for Patriot Woodworker's to have fun with, and discuss and collaborate over items of mysterious uses and origins. General Guidelines The following submission guidelines are suggestions, and subject to change as we grow this category. For now though please try to use these guidelines when you submit your "What's It". Submit multiple images of the item so folks can see all the parts and views of the item. Try to take a picture of your item with something of scale so viewers know what the approximate size of your item is. You could set a ruler next to your item, your own hand, an orange, an apple, or anything that will show us the size of the item. Most importantly, please examine your item for any markings that may help us in our research of your item, patent dates, names, engravings etc. and if found please take close up clear images of those markings. Ensure images are clear and clean. Thank you for participating in our What's It category for member submissions!
  3. To all our members, friends, and TPW family in California: I hope everyone has been missed by the terrible onslaught of wildfires. Stay safe, stay aware, and maybe leave a post to let us know everyone is all right.
  4. Is there an established (written or otherwise) process for new members to join? I ask only because when I joined I was vouched for by Stick and was immediately accepted into the community (Thank You)!! So if I'm referring this site to others is there a vetting that must be done if they wish to join?
  5. Hey turners! Where'd ya'all go! You know Lew gets lonely around here if you don't check in from time to time!
  6. I see quite a few lady turners on youtube. Do we have any lady PWW
  7. I wanted to give a warm welcome to all the new peeps that have joined recently, I was going through the list individually, but found that more people had joined than I thought. I guess I got behind Anyway I will try to do better in the future, if any of you have questions about getting around in here or problems, just ask and I will try to help, or I will notify the powers that be, and get you the help you need. Welcome all
  8. A week or so ago, someone inquired as to how many have migrated over from Wood since their announcement to close down their forums. Well, here's your answer......kinda, sorta. Since August 12th, we have had 99 new members to The Patriot Woodworker. As far as I can tell, I believe 97 of the 99 have come over from Wood. So, there ya go Stick.
  9. Good Monday Morning Patriot Woodworkers and Guests! Get your motors started, and your machinery and hand tools cranking! It's time for a wonderful new week of woodworking, or working, family, life and friends. I love Mondays, it signifies for me anyway a new week ahead, a clean pallet to work with, a way to use what I learned in life the week before. I am sorry about this short Monday topic, usually I have some great information for you but I kind of arose late this morning, and I need to head on out to my day job, still need to fix breakfast to go and my lunch, mama and the kids are still sleeping, one more hour before they awake for school. But for now I'd like to take a moment and welcome all our new woodworkers who have recently signed in with our community, it truly is a wonderful thing to have all this new talent here, differing perspectives, and wonderful work. So welcome new folks, we are glad you are here! Also, I'd like to encourage everyone to head on over to the Raffle Winners topic and congratulate them and thank our sponsors for their wonderful donations of tools for this raffle. The raffle was a success thanks to you all. We raised over $1,100.00 for Homes for Our Troops who build specially adaptive homes for our disabled veterans from the OEF and OIF campaigns. They are doing a wonderful job, and your donations help! So the ultimate question I always ask during this topic every Monday, is, what do you have on your week ahead plate! What are you doing in your woodshop's, or just life in general? Anything you feel like you want to discuss or share here please feel free. Have a wonderful week ahead folks, and once again, welcome to all! Signing Off With Your Monday Eye Candy Image
  10. This topic should be listed in the free for all but it will get a bit more attention here. Due to the closing down of the Wood forums, TPW has received an influx of new members. Welcome aboard y'all. I'd encourage all of us to bounce over there and pin yourself to the map. Here's a quick link. Member Map. Thanks for the nudge PostalTom
  11. Searching for members for a given time period (past 24 hours, past wee, etc.) returns all members
  12. John, As we progress, it would be really nice to get notified when a new member signs up- So we can welcome them! Probably be done either thru a "Follow" button or RSS feeds. Lew
