This topic should be listed in the free for all but it will get a bit more attention here.  Due to the closing down of the Wood forums, TPW has received an influx of new members.  Welcome aboard y'all.  I'd encourage all of us to bounce over there and pin yourself to the map.  Here's a quick link. Member Map.

Thanks for the nudge PostalTom

I noticed that I was already on the member map and I did not remember putting myself there. Must have happened in the sign up...

Hey Chips, member map is glitching right now. Well have it fixed soon!

So, some members are living in Russia, some are living in China, but most are exactly where they belong!

I set the map so that members will have to update their own markers manually. No longer will markers be added as new members join. What happened is, when a member joins, the software is pulling in their server address of their internet provider, 90 percent of the time, this is an accurate method, but sometimes the server is proxied and can be located in another country.

So I would like to ask anyone who is interested in updating their location on our member map, to please visit the Member Map Page and click on "My Location" then click on "Go to my location" and your window will zoom in to your location. If you are happy with your location, you can leave it as is.

If you'd like to update your location, simply click on "My Location" again, then click on "Update Location" and follow the prompts. It's easy!

I apologize for the glitch, the map is fixed now, and it will be reliable from here on out.

Thank you for your patience!

I went on the "Members Map" and it showed me up in San Jose, California. So while I do know the way to San Jose, I live a tad south of there in Corona, California in Riverside County. I tried to correct it on my cell phone but it would not work, so I fired up my Macbook Pro and managed to get it where it needed to be.

Good job Allen. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hey Macbook, my oldest daughter scored a Macbook during one of her scholarship applications for college. What a neat pc! Apple sure knows how to make PC's. It had a couple issues, and we went into the Apple store in Temecula, and they went through it and did some checks, spent a good amount of time on it, and I was surprised that they told us "no charge". Not their policy unless they need to replace something. How cool is that!

Hey, John, I live constantly in a state of Confusion.....  Can't find it on the new map.

John, you may be joining me in that state - CONFUSION - meant as a joke.  Remember, I have the rep as the forum's lighter side.

Of course! :lol::wacko:

Sometimes I take myself and others waaay too seriously don't I Fred.:P

John - on a serious note - does the member map follow us around depending on our IP address like the old one did????

I remember last year when we were traveling out west that my location followed us around during the trip.

Whoa! Are you kidding again! It may, I had no idea it could do that. Perhaps that explains why some of the markers are misplaced? I turned that function off though Fred I think, since I did not know about the moving markers to begin with, I think it is off now due to the fact that I made the map a manual entry map, meaning now you have to install your marker by location prompts. Let me know if your marker still follows you around, this may not be a feature folks want, a bit too big brotherish maybe?

John - not kidding at all on this one.  Yes, last year it DID follow us.  Probably a good idea to make it manual but I will check it out on our next trip.

I agree, following is not a good thing, I will make sure it cannot do that. Sorry about the intrusion!

Wow, I got a brain ache following you Fred and John.

Fred, I though Confusion was somewhere near Tucumcari.

John my map has no button for "my Location" and I cannot find myself in the middle of MS.

Gerald, go up to your profile and scroll down to the member map.  You may manually enter your location there.
