  1. This is my just started current scrimshaw project. Subject matter happens to be a 1784 Kentucke Territory map. The map is the work of a gentleman named John Filson, and as per the fancy cartouche title it was presented to the Congress but more specifically George Washington. It states "Late" commander of the army so he was no longer an active General but this was also before he was president.........things were just getting going . This is some really cool subject matter,...time period couldn't be better. Kentucky wasn't a sate until 1792,....this is still the frontier. We had just licked
  2. This is my buddy Bill Smith's shop. I spend a lot of time there as per some of my posts here on the Patriot. Bill stopped doing scrimshaw work years ago,...so now that's my contribution...along with some horn making. I assure you everything here is proudly handcrafted,..it all starts with raw horn and leather. Every stitch is by hand,..every image on a horn is drawn by hand using historical reference,..no tracing paper or electric tools. Thanks for the opportunity to share. -Aaron
  3. Just completed,...horn is by Bill Smith and myself. Tiger maple base plug.
  4. Here's a Join or Die and BFranklin snake on a flatty,.......snake only on a matching primer. Horns by Bill Smith and myself. Base plugs are tiger maple as usual
  5. A guy wanted a "Son's of Liberty" themed small flat horn to finish out a squirrel hunting rig. Scrimshaw by my self,..horn by Bill Smith. I'll post this here in this section since my last post ended up here,,.....I told you boys I don't fit in anywhere ,....but the horn does have a tiger maple base plug so perhaps that'll count....(as always feel free to move if you Gent's think it'll have a better home ) I hang out with a bag and horn maker friend of mine Bill Smith,.......I work a lot with him making horns and the horn itself officially came out of his shop,........I then do all
