I tried this once before with these same slats, using only two clamps, and I failed miserably, so I had to put the slats back in the steamer again, and try to get the slats to cooperate in the form. This time I used many clamps, and I even clamped some supports so the forms wouldn't get wiggly and goosey on me.

Another question: when the slats are stacked in the form, won't the radii change for each one? Or, is it so slight that the can be bent to fit?

When I built the Morris chairs, the arms were stacked laminations bent over a form. There were 3 @ 3/8" thick per arm. Each lam was cut extra long to accommodate for the curve. That's why I asked.

The radius would change Gene, but as you said slightly, since these are 1/4" thick slats the radius would change a 1/4 inch. Not even visible by the eye in my experience. Since I need to chop each mortise in the posts for these slats, I'll be able to fit each one into place. Some folks will use the smaller radi slats for the top, and the larger radi for the bottom, but in reality you can't feel the difference, nor can you see the difference.

When I glued up my bent lams for my sculpted rockers I stacked the back braces as well, and never paid attention to the radi changes, as slight as they are.

Thanks, John. I'm "larnin". Your pictoral essays are great.
