July 12, 20242 yr Popular Post Well, what do you know? It's Friday again! Not sure what I'll be doing for the weekend, I'm to pooped from what I did/didn't do during the week. Supposed to be HOT/HUMID for this weekend, so probably won't be doing much. What's on Your weekend Agenda?
July 12, 20242 yr Popular Post Finally get a lumber run today (I hope) for a couple of things I've been wanting to do.
July 12, 20242 yr Popular Post Starting construction on theater set for next show, Camp Rock, in Sept. Two "cabins" - two story with porch and balcony, fire pole on one. And a large platform in between. Probably six sets of steps. Smaller pieces TBD.
July 12, 20242 yr Popular Post Waiting on Grandson to show up with his Chainsaw (and a sharper chain than mine) to do a bit of pruning...might be just enough for today..
July 12, 20242 yr Popular Post HOT HOT HOT HOT! They say hey, its ok its a dry heat! Been looking at some North Carolina mountain towns weather and I know it's humid, but they are reporting in at 76 to 86 degrees for their high, and I'm kind of thinking, what's the trade off? 110 dry, or 86 wet? Which is better?

Dry air doesn't happen often around here. If we get into the 100's we get the humidity with it. Bad enough trying to breathe when it's in the mid 80's and above when it's air you can wear and you're dripping in the while shade doing nothing. Worse if you go out in the sun if it's like that.

Which is better? OK, just for fun I found a heat index calculator. Here's how this goes: if it's 111° and a dewpoint 20°, it feels like it's 102° to the human body. If it's 86° with a dewpoint of 75° it feels like 95° to the human body. Like i said: can't do anything either way.

When I look at the Real Feel Index compared to our location and the south east regions, the heat index out there is still lower than here. Either way, we are in the house with the AC cranked up for a couple months, same here, same there.
July 12, 20242 yr Popular Post After 6"+ of rain between Tuesday and yesterday coupled with the extreme heat and humidity, the only thing I'm sure about is church Sunday and possibly oldest granddaughter is coming home for the weekend. Oh, and I'll be mostly unsupervised tomorrow. Things on my NOT TO DO List: *Water any of the garden areas or outside plants; *Mow lawn; *Weedeat; *Trim trees or bushes; *Roofiing; *Bale Hay; *Run any local, regional or state 5k or 10k events; other than that, I probably can find something to do. If not, I'm sure the Mrs. is plotting something. PSA: Krispy-Kreme is offering up buy one dozen doughnuts today, get a second dozen for 87 cents. Sadly, the nearest KK is over an hour away.

I was shocked at the local Doughnut Palace price was now over 10. Sighted in new scope mount this morning. This afternoon hope to finish sanding spiral bowl. Edited July 12, 20242 yr by Gerald
July 12, 20242 yr Popular Post OK, maybe I shouldn't mention this because ya'all will think I have zero taste on doughnuts (and maybe I do) . But our local Kroger has, IMHO, very good donuts. By "good" I don't mean they are the best...just very good. The "best" ones around here are upwards of $12/dz.....Kroger's regular price is $10/dz. But on Fridays, they have donut day......any you want for $5/dozen. Trurh be told, I only have one every Sunday morning; same with Marie. But I buy a dozen and individually wrap/freeze them. So if you have a Kroger nearby, check and see...you might be able to try them out for only $5. Edited July 12, 20242 yr by Fred W. Hargis Jr

Pretty good when they're freshly made. I'll have to see if ours does the Friday thing.
July 13, 20242 yr Popular Post If this thread is about what you are doing this weekend it sounds like everyone is sitting around eating donuts and sweating.
