Yesterday was a "Me Day" as 50 years ago on the 17th was my last day of being Single. Congrats. We did that 2 years ago but Covid ruined the celebration.

This will be my second time missing it in the last 45 years. so Instead I'll be in the shop working on some special-order items between tending to my wife. Double mastectomy on Tuesday has her sidelined for the rest of the year.

We know the uncertain feelings well. Wife went through a single mastectomy 22 years ago. She refused the Chemo/Radiation treatments. Stay positive, these Wisconsin women are tough, they have to be to live here.

November 19, 20223 yr Popular Post Prepping the last mesquite round..ish table top. Resin pour Monday. Tomorrow's our twin sons' 43rd birthday bash. Steaks, and all the timmings and sides. Each birthday boy gets his favorite dessert. One is Boston creme pie and, the other, yellow cake with chocolate icing. One boy's in-laws are coming, too. Should be 12 for the mid day meal...which, for us, is dinner. whomever sticks around for supper will get home-made tamales.
November 19, 20223 yr Popular Post Boston Cream Pie is a favorite of mine as well...can we come??????
November 19, 20223 yr Popular Post Just hanging out around the pool again today. Granddaughter had a good morning. Swam her fastest 100 breast stroke ever besting her time set yesterday during her leg of the 400 medley relay. She finished 2nd in her heat, qualifying her for the consolation finals tonight. Also swam her fastest ever 200 freestyle as the anchor leg of the 800 free relay. Her team finished last overall in the finals but still scored points. This pool is fast. Numerous team and individual records have already been broken by all the teams. Some incredible times have been posted. LOTS of talented swimmers at this meet. At the end of the morning session, a young man attempted a qualifying time trial for the 50 freestyle national team. Sadly he missed the time but it was pretty cool seeing all the teams and spectators cheering him on. Tough to do when you're the only swimmer in the pool and the entire deck has been cleared except for officials and timers. Back tonight first for finals session, then we host and feed granddaughters team. Expecting some hungry swimmers after today. Edited November 19, 20223 yr by Grandpadave52
November 19, 20223 yr Popular Post On the floor because the bench isn’t big enough… Finishing up the patio sofa today. Currently waiting for the poly to dry to do a final sanding and then the moving…. the moving… SWMBO needs to ID the spot this thing is going to go because it weighs a ton. After that I am going to spend some time cleaning up the shop and figuring out what my next project is going to be. Right now I am thinking it has to do with hand tool organization but priorities around here have a way of changing Dinner with the in-laws tonight and maybe make a Charcuterie board this afternoon for my brother down in LA for Christmas.

( the c = chairs) we just got word that a family. who had said they had a previous commitment, will be coming, after all. That makes 16 people. ( so far,) Several years ago, I made a couple 6' long, backless benches for our deck up north. They've since been covered with glazed tiles and are used for potted plants. May have to press them in to service as seats.
