September 3, 20223 yr Popular Post Was a bit busy, today....getting roasted down at West Liberty, OH. Seems they have a "Fest" going on this weekend Something about Tractors? I was there for the tool vendors, though.. Went through at least 3 tents, nothing but tools...may go back Saturday and see what I missed...as only half of the vendors were even open... By 1400 hrs, I was having issues with the heat...Tractors will be there tomorrow.. Don't know IF these will be.. We'll see...

September 3, 20223 yr Popular Post lol, skinnier is the code word for broke isn't it, here in Az, its rare to find a gaggle of older tools, one almost has to go to the retirement communities to find stuff from other states folks brought with them, i frequent suncity west on occassion and hit up garage sales, but since getting the ''cease and desist'' order from the chief, i ur, uh, er don't ever go any more, hehehe, that she knows about, its an addiction i tell you, i may find something that i gotta have, not necessarily need, you know the ''gotta have'', and i'll concede shes right i'm running outta space. cranked the AC on early am, shops at about 80 now, in an hour be in mid 70s, so off we got to hopefully finish up a few of her boards, she dropped the bomb on me last nite she has some new ideas, i somehow think this is gonna be work for me, oh well what else do i have to do. rj in az

September 3, 20223 yr Popular Post Working on prepping the garage floor for an epoxy coating. Waiting for it to dry thoroughly with this high humidity.
September 3, 20223 yr Popular Post Breaking in the new bench. Not sure if this is the final resting place but it's already got sawdust on it. .40
September 3, 20223 yr Limbert legs are done, except for final sanding. Working on the shelves, now. Wishing I had some qswo but, walnut will have to do. All my lumber is rough, straight from the bandsaw mill. It was free but, it's a lot of work to get it usable. The belt came off the zero turn mower. One of the pullies came loose. That took several hours to fix, yesterday. Thought it was done. But, it's still not right. Something's clattering. Gotta open it up once more to find the source of the noise. This is getting old! May not get back to woodworking for a while.

Worked on every one of those "long green line" models many, many times in a former life; even the odd one out, "Johnny popper, aka 2 lunger" (may be a 720 or 730??; hard to tell but size along with paint scheme, air intake tube with a precleaner appears to be?.) Others shown depending on models (new generation, produced 1961-1972). Valve lash settings, diesel, .018" intake & exhaust; gas & lp gas, intake .018", exhaust, .028"; same on later model diesels with factory turbos. Don't know squat about the golf cart though. Weird, can't tell you what I had for dinner 3 days ago, but remember random stuff like that.

We had problems with rodents getting in our engine bay and chewing the wiring. We tried lights under the car and, Zest soap shavings in the engine bay. But, spreading granuals, that purportedly smelled of coyote urine, around the car finally did the trick.

So now you have to get rid of the coyotes.

I can mail you some if you want. Don't you just love the CAN (Computer Area Network) vehicle control systems? Sounds like you'll be looking for a GM Tech2 system. I'm looking for a cheap one now for the neighbor, he needs one for his Express vans. Can't get a stock radio to work in the 05 without reprograming the Vin number into the radio's memory. Also required for certain ABS, SRS, Stabilitrak (GM's version of VSA (Vehicle Stabilty Assist) functions. I got lucky when a mechanic friend gave me his old laptop diagnostic system even though the laptop was broken. Asked around and was given an older Dell laptop that I loaded up with W7 and the Honda Diagnostic Software (HDS) Now that I think about it, I might have the software, and interface module for GM. I've got a box of interface modules and software that came with the laptop system. I only needed the Honda stuff when I set the laptop up. Couldn't reset the SRS (Air Bags), and VSA without it. Both of those systems lost partial memory when I had the battery disconnected to perform other work. The SRS system lost communication with the front passengers seat, and the VSA needed to have the sensor neutral position memorization procedure performed. (Basically had to tell both systems "Hey Stupid, it's over there".) We've got cats, the mice and us are their pets. Lets just say that if Honda, or Denso (Honda Supplier) had put a screen on the outside air intake for the heating/coolng system I wouldn't have to pull the only trim panel I haven't removed before. Removing the blower motor housing requires removing the dash to get to the top mounting bolts. I'll be putting a stainless steel screen over the top opening in the second drawing. With the blower motor removed I can reach up into the cowl vent area, and my wife can see my fingers sticking out the bottom edge of the brace in the first photo. Depending upon which heat/cool function the vehicle is left in when shut off the outside air, and recirculation air control doors get left wide open giving the mice easy access to the vehicle through the blower housing. This photo shows the recirc door open. Here's the door closed. Those grates are about 1 1/4", the outside air door and grates are about twice that size. Can't get a photo of the outside air door without removing the blower housing, it's on the firewall side of the housing. Here's a couple of views from the bottom through the blower motor opening. First up outside air door open. That hole at the top is about 4 1/2" X 9" that angled piece left of the hole is the back side of the brace the wife could see my fingers sticking out from under. Here's the door closed. Should have taken a photo of the mess that fell out when I pulled the blower motor but didn't.
September 4, 20223 yr Popular Post Having taken a pain pill for my sore arm Friday night. I slept till noon yesterday. Got up did some banking and had lunch. Watched a movie and took another pain pill. Got back up at 9pm. Read some articles online and went back to bed at 11pm. Yeah, I feel better today. Now I can try and catch up on posts and such. Love the new job, but what a transition. Think dead stop to full sprint. Paychecks been good. For those that know how mechanic flat rate works, turned 74.8 hour last pay period.
