Dry fit looks good. No fasteners, all joinery.. Will be a bathroom cabinet for friend's house. Design is a picture of one she found online. That looks super Gunny, a few more pics of this please as work progresses 13 hours ago, John Hechel said: for us it's been good and bad. Prayers out for you & the Mrs. John.
April 23, 20224 yr Friday was taken up with a bunch of odds & ends. Had the rear window in truck #2 replaced. Sandblasted a few mugs and one pie plate. Cleaned up the Duster and then off to look at some auction stuff. I bid on a couple house air filters, hoping to get one. Saturday, today, I plan to go to a local car show. I think it's been about two years since I've attended a show. Been to a few cruise ins, but this will be the first show since covid that I will have put the car in.

April 23, 20224 yr Popular Post yesterday's task at the range: made the sticks that keep the target stands organized. nominal target sticks are 1x2s, so 3/4x1-1/2 actual. but that makes for a snug fit. so these sticks are shaved down from those dimensions, and are about 11/16 x 1-3/8, making it easier to remove and return the target stands when they are needed for a match. total of 72 stands, most stacks have 10, two stacks have 11, 7 stacks total. sticks are 32" long, painted red so they are not mistaken for an actual target stick (those are unpainted), with a white top, so it's a bit easier to see the top when re-stacking the stands in the somewhat dim Conex container they live in. tops are also chamfered a bit too. not the biggest or most complicated project, but it solves a problem, so i'll call it a success. makes everyone's life a little easier going forward on match days. April 23, 20224 yr Author Popular Post Phone rang had to meet neighbor at storage cell #6 to unload the G3500, trailer, & Astro van. They found me something I needed. I'll put it in @HARO50's "Curb Shopping" thread. Edited April 23, 20224 yr by Larry Buskirk
April 23, 20224 yr All set to get out to the shop today and make some sawdust. I have been working on a drill press table for a bit for the franken-smith dedicated drill press and due to life it has been on hold for a minute. Have some ash that I plan on using for home made t-track, all I have to do is put a 5/16” slot in it and then run a t-cutter down it. Easy peasy, right? Well, Murphy is a jerk, so 3” into the first piece the Freud 5/16” double flute straight bit decides to become a 2-piece bit… I am walking away to look for alternatives and get my head back in the game after that little disaster.

Hmmm....maybe a little solder? On a more serious note, try making your initial groove on the TS, first. Edited April 23, 20224 yr by Gene Howe

That is actually an excellent idea and one that I plan on implementing immediately. Thanks for kicking my head into thinking about this from another direction!

I'll be doing lap joint bead board on a table saw next week, hopefully. I bet @steven newman has a plane which would do it too; another thing to learn. Redundancy is good.

April 24, 20224 yr Popular Post That is a nice looking No. 45. I am gradually building up my hand tool collection and that is definitely on the list of must haves. So far I have a No. 5, a couple of antique molding planes, a wood body jointing length plane, a No. 62 replica, and a good block plane. The next thing I really need to do in the hand tool department though is build an actual bench.

So a rebate plane will made lap-joint wall board. I'm thinking of ripping 3/8" planks at some point, to make T&G panels. Maybe a little fine for the No. 45?
