Supposed to be some nice weather, for this time of year, this week.  Want to go out and hit the leaves one more time since they were late this year.

Putting the finishing touches on the Christmas stuff.

Spent yesterday playing with Sketchup. Learning how to create dovetail drawings in preparation for making a storage box. Supposed to be a little warmer so maybe I can get the rolling pin holders polyed. 

Finished up the bowls on commission. Now have 23 hand bells to complete turning and doing finish on them. We are having a Christmas party for 29 people tomorrow night so got lots of Honey Does for that.

Working on design for small cabinet for finishing room. As always I want several options but the reality is I can have 2 of 3 but not all 3.

Working the J.O.B. this week.  Not really expecting much in the way of shop time during the week.

Spent most of the weekend learning about the Shopsmith that I picked up a couple weeks ago.

@Masonsailor was nice enough to drop by and give me a crash course and point out some of the really clever design features of the machine.

Ran through the setup process yesterday to make sure everything is squared up, cleaned, lubricated, waxed, etc...

 

I got a ton of accessories and ancillary parts with this machine but much to my amusement the one thing that I didn't get was an upper spindle drive hub for SPTs so I will definitely be ordering a couple of those today.

 

 

Getting my "honey-do" listS accomplished. Both grand-daughters will be home for Christmas break by the end of the week.

Need to take recycling to drop off point; also trip to John Deere store to pick-up some special order parts.

Weather will dictate any garage or outside work. Supposed to warm up along with MUCH NOT NEEDED rain.

Today's focus will be locating my get-up & go. I've found 7 pencils and a stale donut so far but...

I need to get the drawers installed in the media room and then continue on with the Xmas presents.

 Must be really lost, haven't seen it in awhile. 

Had to go to the UPS store to send off that box. Then to the grocery store to pick up some candy and cookie making supplies for Phyl. Now, to work on the planer. It's the DeWalt 735 with the Shelix head. Yesterday, I ran a piece of walnut and got some nasty ridges. Nothing that a bit of sanding couldn't fix but, there are about 50 boards to plane and, I'm really not in to sanding them all before the glue up. so, some cutters will need adjusting. Besides, it just ain't supposed to do that. 

Hope to get several of the leg blanks in clamps by eod Thursday. Friday, we pick up my sister who's flying from IL to spend a week with us. She lands at a small airport in Mesa. So, we don't have to fight the traffic at the Phoenix Sky Harbor airport. There will be very little shop time next week. But, we'll hit it hard the next week! It really feels good to finally be making Some sawdust. 

HmmmMonday?  Not  off to a very good start....guess I can't even stay in bed....

1 minute, I'm sleeping quite peacefully IN the bed....only to get awakened by a crash....somehow I had landed face down on the bedroom floor..2' down below where I thought I was.....LZ Nose, LZ  Elbows, and LZ Knees were complaining...then Uncle Charles decided to try and help me stand up...by cramping up the legs....and, NO..I did not bounce..that I know of..nor, left a dent in the floor...

 

On that note..shop stays closed, today...

In 12 months, all I've done in the shop is re-arrange a few things and try to clean up a little.  Then the LOML hands me a honey-do list. It seems that the hot decorating item this year is tree cut-outs, so after a bit of research, I ended up making these for a friend. She was ecstatic! Now I have to find tine, and wood scraps, to make more! These are 10", 12" and 14" tall, not counting the bases. Feels good to make a little sawdust again.

Ya' done good John. Very nice. Glad you're stirring up some dust again that doesn't involve cleaning.
