None this week. Featured link No new links this week. Featured video I have read here in our own forum that carbide inserted tools such as Easy Wood Tools don't produce shavings, so it's in some way or form not truly turning, hmmm. By this video seems Craig Jackson, prior owner of EWT gets some nice shavings from his tools. Enjoy!
December 6, 20214 yr Popular Post Well; over the weekend some things got done, some didn't... Played hooky on Friday afternoon. After picking up the new sofa it was just too nice out to go back to work. I pulled the Duster out and the wife & I went for a nice cruise in it. BTW, nice sofa - first new furniture we have ever bought. New furniture has never been on our priority list. Now I've been thinking about making a matching set of coffee table and sofa table to maybe complete the living room. Saturday I went up to the auction with intentions of buying a pick up truck that was in the sale. I had looked at it earlier in the week and looked up a few needed parts it would have taken. But, at the sale after it was jumped off the motor had a strange tick going on. Took a pass. Didn't even hang around to see what it sold for. I finished laying the patio blocks early Sat. afternoon. And then watched UGA get owned by Alabama. Not the outcome I wanted Our daughter came in Sat. afternoon and said she was very happy with the entertainment center, that's a plus. Put the final coat of poly on it Sat. evening and yesterday brought all the parts into the house to complete drying/curing before I take it to Atlanta. Spent a fair amount of time yesterday picking the shop up, putting stuff away and thinking about this weeks activities. This week - plan to start the appliance garage today. Also looking into a few government auctions for a pick up. Have a birthday to attend on Tuesday evening for BIL. Supposed to have a fair chance of rain most every day, but I would like to get the entertainment center delivered if one day should cooperate.
December 6, 20214 yr Popular Post Geeze, is it Monday again? The weekend's football games kept me out of the shop a good bit. But, it was worth it to see The Tide take their rightful spot in the rankings (sorry, Cal but, the Dawgs gave their all) and, to watch the AZ Cardinals continue their winning ways. But, the highs I got from those games has dissipated and it's back to more mundane but, enjoyable shop work. Well, mostly shop work. After doing some tune ups on my little shorty Shopsmith which required a bit of sanding the quill, I now need to find some liquid blueing. And while I'm out, some of those Scotch Brite pads are on the list. I think they are great for using between coats of finish. Unfortunately, those two items are only to be found at stores miles apart. But, while waiting for daylight and the store's opening times, de cluttering continues. I have an order for 3 identical walnut bedside tables so, finally I get to make some sawdust. Tomorrow, the Stiffening bars for the FrankenSmith should be ready at the machine shop. Then, I can FINALLY button that up and start using it. Edited December 6, 20214 yr by Gene Howe
December 6, 20214 yr Popular Post Installed Marie's Ring doorbell Saturday, a job that took maybe 30 minutes. Then spent 2 hours Saturday fighting the software to get it on her Ipad, and got nowhere. The basic problem was I first installed it on my Iphone, that part went well. But then the process of "sharing" with another device (Marie's Ipad) didn't work at all. Gave up on it Sat., then Sunday I took a different approach. I took it off my Iphone and installed it as a new device on her Ipad, that seemed to make both of us happy. If she hadn't been standing next to me on Sat., I would have given my foul language skills a good workout. Edited December 6, 20214 yr by Fred W. Hargis Jr

Definitely thought Ga vs Ala was going to be closer than it was, but my thoughts were different with the OSU game as well. Decorating is just about complete & I did what I was told when I was told. Not so much for the cat but then again, I'm not as interested in tinsel as she is. I think baking starts this week, but I'll wait till I see the bread board on the counter to know for sure.
December 6, 20214 yr Popular Post Was busy assembling stuff that was done In finishing room. Next up is a 6 caulk tube holder for Mother's shop. Still working on assembly.

Fortunately that doesn't work here Mimi's knee is healing so let the decorating commence... outside is done, the inside will probably continue well into the month. Wreath deliveries to the various cemeteries will get done this week. I did get the rolling pin holder pieces sanded and glued together. Final sculpting and the finish yet to go.
December 6, 20214 yr Popular Post Monday. Seems to me that used to mean something. I wonder what it was.

December 6, 20214 yr Popular Post Some tasks were completed, most were not. Friday errand day expanded requiring some additional stops. Those were were capped off with the finale at planet Walmart which altered not only my mind, mood & mobility but my motivation too. I did make dinner (or supper if you prefer) for my wife's birthday. Did manage a few outdoor projects Saturday before succumbing to football playoffs. Sorry @Cal. Since politics jumped Bama ahead of Michigan, looks like you'll get the opportunity to avenge when it counts. Never thought I'd live long enough to see Purdue #1 in men's basketball. Of course the Cubs did win the world series in my lifetime plus we've sent people to the moon and have indoor plumbing now so who knows what can happen next. Deacon meeting tonight, business meeting WE night so some prep work for both. Outside & shop work called due to whether...that being whether the weather cooperates and whether my get-up and go decides to get up.
December 6, 20214 yr Popular Post Had a great Saturday at the craft show. Sales were more than twice what I did two years ago. Now a few holes or low inventory to replenish and another show two days only 3 hours a day. Worked on a commission Sunday and got three bowls sanded out so only three to go. There was three of us showing together.

Sounds like there is a pent up demand and desire for quality handcrafted items Made In The U.S.A. Appreciate seeing your display area and acitivty.
December 6, 20214 yr Popular Post Gerald, that's great. Say, can you spare a buck for a cup of coffee?

December 6, 20214 yr Popular Post If we can't discuss philosophy with the barristas, what's left? They'd refuse anyway. They know we're always right.

As for the cats here...NO, they share nothing...cats, well it's all about them.
