  • It’s finally finished.  First, thank you all for you comments and advise on putting the skirt on the table.  I did put on on and it makes a world of difference.  The table is 1 1/4 inch thick walnut.

  • It took me 4 days to complete the glue up.  Then I cleaned and scrapped the excess glue off, and did a little light hand planing.  Then I began sanding from 80 grit up to 220.  I’ll be finishing with

  • I thought about doing bread board ends, but we like the look of it not having them.  I’m thinking of giving the top a 1/2 inch round over around the edges.  I found some legs online at a company calle

Thanks Cal.  I was very nervous doing this because of the cost of the materials, but I think I would do it again..really enjoyed it.

Tres magnifique!

Mon Ami, Artie…(whatever that means…ha ha ha). Thanks.  It was a bit nerve racking at first, but I think it cam out pretty well.

My French is VERY limited, but I believe I told you your work was magnificent, and you called me your friend. It came out VERY well, and now you may be challenged to expand your horizons beyond this.

You speak French! Once again, I'm impressed!

I took it for 2 years in junior high school. I can ask what time is it? (But cannot understand the answer), And can tell people that I don’t speak French (in French), do you speak English? (Also in French) . I can also ask for a beer in German.

I was there for 2 weeks with the USAFR in 1980 (maybe 1981). Got to go to the Oktoberfest in Munich (GOOD TIME!). At the local bars/pubs (they had a name for them, guesthouse maybe) they pretty much only served the local brewery’s beer. All I know was I said “Ein beer en bitte” and I got a beer. Of course money was exchanged first LOL.

Just a little tip here... you can order in English pretty much anywhere. Everyone speaks it well enough to get by! Mother was born in Munich. Grandmother was a distributor for HackerBrau (now Hacker-Pshorr). Half the basement was full of beer crates, and the whole neighbourhood bought from her.
