We have so much to be thankful - not just on this day but all year long.  We, here in Georgia, have our family around us and are joyous for our "good" health and the love that surrounds us.

GOD bless the USA

Have a great Thanksgiving, everybody! By the time we all sit down to eat at 14:00 out here in AZ, most all you guys east of the Rockies will be enjoying the effects of the tryptophan and serotonin.

I was thinking earlier today of all the misery going on around me (us) what with health, the wars, the environment, and a long list of other stuff. Then  I realized it isn't all misery and I indeed have a huge number of things ot be thankful for.....I will be remembering them the rest of the day and I truly am thankful for the good life I have, and have had, and more importantly all those surrounding me.

Sorry, didn't mean to be sappy....but that's a true story.

Fred you just captured my thoughts precisely. I know with all the challenges I've experienced recently, I give thanks today.

And a humble THANK-YOU to our men and women stationed around the world protecting our freedoms that will be separated from their families this year.

A Blessed and Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends here at TPW!

So did every one survive the tryptophan overdose!

Boy we had a full day yesterday, oldest girl and son n law dropped by for breakfast, they made quiche and we supplemented their offerings with biscuits and ham, they hung around till about 3pm and then took off to his parents home to spend the evening with them, I had the turkey in around 2pm, we use the oven bag so it cooked relatively fast, dinner was on by 5:30, son had smashed potato duty, younger daughter had dinner roll and corn bread duty, I had glazed carrots duty along with orchestrating the coming together of the meal, and my poor wife started feeling sickly earlier in the afternoon so she was pretty much out of commission as far as helping out, but we let her rest and me and the two kids got it together pretty good.

The meal was a success, and bitter sweet. We started missing some of our clan who moved on to be with the Lord, our table was just the four of us, and mama was reminiscing a bit, and kind of got us in a thoughtful mood for a bit, not too long ago we had a pretty big table, with our oldest daughter still with us but she's married now, my own dad passed away this past May, my mother passed away Christmas Eve of 22', an elderly family friend of ours who passed away always showed up to our family events, she was our kids adopted aunt, and missing from the table, and a few others we miss.

Then to lighten things up we started talking about the wonderful adventure we'll be embarking on soon after I retire and moving to the other side of our nation, and meeting new friends, and making a new life, and I pray that we can fill our table seating up once again with new friends, and wonderful relationships and great neighbors.

In my life I've been known to make myself an Island, I can be a late learner quite often, and I am learning more and more that "no man is an Island", I truly do need people, I need friends, I need our table seats to be full, and I pray that wherever we land, people will come into our lives, and stay a bit.

Happy Thanksgiving day after gang! I have much to be grateful for, and all the folks here in one way or another has made a significant impression on me, so I thank each and every one of you, I only wish for you, what the best of the mystery of life can provide, and the mystery of faith :)

@Al B, I'm praying for you and your beautiful bride sir, you are in my thoughts now, and will continue to be.

Thank you @John Morris. Ellie was moved from the hospital on Wednesday to a rehab facility. My daughter and I spent part of Thanksgiving Day with her.  Praying for her recovery. We also remember the days when our table was full. Ellie and I with our 2 daughters and son . along with mother-in-law and father-in-law. MIL and FIL have long passed and our son Michael passed way too early in life. There was no Thanksgiving table this year, but the great memories remain.

A friend of Ellie's brought a dinner for my daughter and me today. Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, vegetables and cranberry sauce. Another friend brought an apple pie.  Great to have such friends. Ellie seemed a little better today but still in pain.
