July 24, 20205 yr Hey folks, been looking around the web and have not found much, I'd like to build a knock down shooting bench. It has to be small enough to fit in my 2009 Toyota Corolla, and light enough to obviously carry to the shooting area by one person. There a ton of stable solid shooting benches out there but they are big and bulky, and should be left in place after built. Any idea or help is greatly appreciated. I'm sure if I sat down and drew one up, I could come up with something, but if someone already invented the wheel in this one, I'd like to see an example. There are plenty on the market fabricated, but I don't like plastic and aluminum for what I am involved in.

July 24, 20205 yr Author Sorry, duh! For gun shooting. That could have been interpreted as some kind of Hand Plane shooting bench right!
July 24, 20205 yr Author Popular Post I acquired a used Flintlock rifle sometime back, and my son and I finally got around to shooting it this past weekend, and we loved it, this may start a new hobby for my boy and I. Here it tis. A Lyman Great Plains .50 Cal Flintlock Here's my boy shooting it, pretty cool eh!

July 24, 20205 yr Popular Post A good friend of mine shoots at the NMLRA national matches in Friendship IN every year, and he's won several times. He has a knockdown down that he's used as log as I've known him (30 years). It's not far from your pic. The top is a little more robust (I think he has some kind of 2x stock) and he doesn't have the cutout, it's just a straight bench. The legs are (I think 1.5" galvanized pipe that he just screws into pipe flanges on the bottom of the bench. The flanges are mounted on angled blocks of wood to provide the splay. hen he shows up at the range it takes him about 3 minutes to get the bench set up, though every thing else (putting the scope on the rifle, getting his loading materials in place, etc.) probably take another 20 minutes.
