February 11, 20206 yr Author Popular Post I even opened the shop..on.. a.. Monday? Was feeling lucky, I guess. Plywood cut to size. Screws at the ready....drawer back was a 1/16" too long....trimmed that back...laid out all the parts.. Package of screws? I didn't NEED a huge box of gold plated screws, when less than a dozen will do.. Chased down the bottle of glue, and a mallet...first side.. Plywood helps to keep things square..then the other side.. Glue in the dados..slide the back in place...needed pilot holes drilled... Then install a few screws.. Then, check the drawer for square...I don't mind a little "toe-in", trying to avoid the "toe-out"...then a couple clamps, as these need clamped up.. So.. 2 seemed to be enough...tried the drawer out, to see IF it will slide in.. Works for me...needed to work on the top of the table...needed to be ON the floor, NOT on top of the dryer...but, where? Hmm, clear this out a bit...don't need too much room.. This will work...Need to cut a radius on each corner of the top...sharp corners and kneecaps don't like each other...got out the High Tech Radius Jig... Lay out a few lines..then a Vintage saw.. To cut the lines...had to place my knee on the table top, to keep the table from walking away..front two done..cleaned up with the beltsander.. Then rotate around, and do the back two corners...then up onto the bench, and a round-over bit was run around...then sanded it all to 100 grit... Gave just the top a coat of stain.. Let this sit a bit, before I wipe it down...looked at handle choices...more like the 3 Bears... Too fat, too small, and one....maybe too long? back to the top, gave it a good wipe down.. Tried to match up the grain...sap wood at the back..then heart wood the rest of the way...like a single fancy slab... Worki holding? Letting the top dry, then work on the rest of the table...and look at more handle choices... Stay tuned

February 12, 20206 yr Author Amazing what can be made with just Leftovers? Back popped out when I stood up this morning....making walking a bit...rough. Spinal Stenosis Lumbar.....right side. Not sure about using them stairs....trying to get things to loosen up a bit....will see how it goes. Spares Box...had a few more handle choices to go over... Leaning more towards the bottom one in this picture.... IF Morris wants to rename this thread....maybe something about a Shaker Style Table of Ash.....or, have I done that, already...

February 12, 20206 yr Author Popular Post Well...drawer front was stained, after the dovetails had been cleaned up... I rarely ever stain the sides of a drawer...too good of a chance the finish will cause it to stick...drawer was test fitted.. And a handle selected.. Brass plating was starting to flake off, wire wheel cleaned things up. Handle installed, table has a wiped down coat of stain.. Front, before the handle..and... Now waiting on the stain to dry, before the varnish goes on...guess this is a "PIP"?
