:lol::lol::lol::lol:  Guess if it happened to me it wouldn't be funny. I have a paint stirrer, but my drill is set on low and the trigger is pressed slowly. Variable speed. The blades never reach the surface while stirring.

Well, let's get a bit more creative.  Find another paint project.  If she doesn't like the smell of paint, maybe, she'll go to a friends home or shopping.  Then you can paint the real project.  So whe

I have 12 volt power supply.  So I took a car power window motor and use that as my paint mixer.  It goes very slow, no bubbles.  I like it because you can set it and walk away and it will slowly stir at a steady pace.  The paddle is for demo purposes.  Have never taken a picture of the stainless steel one I made up for it.

Artie, fixing the mistake and landing on your feet is part of the process.

Your method of using a guide to redrill the hole larger is what I would have done.  The guide has to be clamped very tightly to the piece you are drilling.  A brad point bit would work, but  you got to start it slow so that it cuts the larger with the spurs.  A forstner bit would also work.  I wouldn't use a normal metal bit for this except as a last resort.

I handheld the guide :( I did use a brad point bit, but where the center mass was missing for the point to center itself, I was wondering if a regular bit mighta centered itself better, instead of grabbing. I don’t think I have a Forster that small, but now I will go check that.

I have this problem frequently.  Probably light pressure and slow starting would solve the problem, but I tend get impatient.

The idea of the forstner bit sounds good.  I have an 8 piece Irwin set that I got on Ama*** that has a 1/4" bit.

Seems her husband bought a small drill press and thought it could be used to stir some paint.  Yeah, he had it at max speed and a full gallon of paint.  Paint is EVERYWHERE!!!

:ChinScratch:...I guess that's one way to paint a DP:rolleyes:

No picture, I will spare the guy the humiliation.

But we won't know how good of a job he did without a picture!

Artie once your nephew starts hanging medals on this you won't even notice the pegs. Looks great.

Very true, we are of course our own worst critics..  Unless you have an ex wife, that brings critic to a whole new level.  :JawDrop:

Al I had to sign and date the back, because they saw you did that on the bandsaw box you gave Lisa.

Well done!

Jim

That is very nice Artie, and I hope you got a lot of satisfaction from the project.  Please take another pic when it is up, in use for its intended purpose and the recipient.

Overall great job, now you can take what you learned about wood and paint and tackle the next project!

Good job Artie it finished up real nice.

When you get old like me you'll be able to say, I made that 30 years ago ! :)

Artie and all others with a Shopsmith, you can set up in drill press mode or horizontal drill mode.  Set your table 12-13 degrees from center of the drill path.  Use your first bit to drill for the screw shank.  Change bits to the larger and center over the drilled hole.  But, this bit should be big as the screw head.  Drill just past the outer edge and then you have a Kregg bored hole.  And, yes, I use only Bradpoint bits.  I will demonstrate sometime this winter.

YES, I told my S-I-L that my fee for the project is a photo of it in Nino’s room. I had fun making it, and I am learning.

Artie you actually have room for more screws. You  must have got a terrible deal on those special screws somewhere....   But otherwise the finished product looks great....
