Without going into a lot of detail I haven't really turned anything since early in May, or even been in the shop for that matter. it also seriously affected my free time so I haven't spent a lot of time on the forums or FB groups. Things are starting to get a little more normal around here and I'm hoping to get back in the shop after the first of the year. i have some ideas for new projects and a couple new videos but just haven't had time to pursue them.
December 28, 20196 yr Popular Post Sorry to hear that @Steve Krumanaker. You have been scarce around here. I just thought maybe you were more active on Facebook as others have. Wishing you the best.

If you have the mechanical headstock, it starts at 750 rpm. Either way, there is a speed reducer to attach. It does shorten the turning stock capability, but I don't remember the measurement. It is far cheaper than one of these notable and worthy machines in the professional level. The speed reducer is an attachment (STP) and is found here. https://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/catalog/speedreducer.htm
December 28, 20196 yr Steve, it is so great to see you back here. I always look forward to your comments and projects.
December 28, 20196 yr Popular Post @Steve Krumanaker sorry you have been going thru it, but glad to have you back. Some of us old regulars have been busy answering many questions here and need the help.

Actually, according to the Shopsmith site, the starting speed of the PowerPro is 250 rpm. https://www.shopsmith.com/shopsmithpowerpro/powerpro.htm The best time to eat crow is when it is still warm.

I don’t see the crow, you basically said the Power Pro head has a slow enough RPM for turning, and you were correct. And I will definitely start any turning I may do, on the SS, before I move up to one of them Powermatic beauty’s.
