That right there was worth the price of admission today! Great tip Herb, and one I will remember for sure. On your stamp, are you using ink or paint with it?

Herb Herb, I'm somewhat back to the I don't draw plans stage with the desk. My new monitor is 1.5" to wide to fit into the desks hutch. But the difference in the quality of the view more than makes up for this minor setback. I've been looking through my "Junk Stash", and I've got something going on in my mind that I think will out do that one! Besides that the wife needs a desk for her PC.
April 2, 20196 yr Author Popular Post That is what I mean, Larry, your mind is like an eggbeater, it whirls around ideas and spits out great looking and working recipes. Keep it up I love it, you give others like me ideas to think about. Herb

I always wanted to gets something that looked like brains and throw it on the floor and say, "look Mom, my brains came out." Knowing my Mother wouldn't work. I can hear her now, "Put your BRAINS back in your head!!! Have you lost your MIND???"

Gene,I am using a Bosch hole saw from a kit of hole saws, they are all metric sizes. So I matched it with a forstner bit ,the closest I had was 1 1/16",it is close to 1/64 larger than the ID of the hole saw. When I sand the waffer after it is glued in place I let the tiny gap around it fill with sanding dust just wipe it off before I put finish on. If I blow it out there is a noticeable void showing. Herb

Herb Thanks, Herb. How thick are the wafers? Can I find the dragon fly stamp on line. I'm thinking of running a sheet of them through the laser for you. Edited April 3, 20196 yr by Gene Howe

I'm thinking of running a sheet of them through the laser for you. WOW That would be fantastic, Gene.If I can't maybe I can mail you a copy of the stamp. The wood I use is about 3/32", I know you don't use a ruler, so it is more than a 16th and less than an 8th. @Cal I stamp the bare wood, let the ink soak in and dry for a few minutes, then SPRAY on the Shellac from a spray can. I was concerned with it like you were, that brushing might smear the ink, so went to the spray. Herb
April 3, 20196 yr Popular Post Thanks, Herb. I think 3/32" is about five playing cards. Stamping a few (just in case) on plain typing paper would do the trick.
