February 26, 20197 yr Author Popular Post Ok finished one for the presentation to staff. Will have to see what finish they will want as well as stain. This one measures 11 7/8 and is 2 3/4 deep. Will probably go with 12 1/4 on the rest with the bowl the same as this one. Wife says it is too deep. We will see.
February 26, 20197 yr Looks great but I am confused. Is it a offering plate or a collection plate for fish and bread?

February 26, 20197 yr Nice! If it was just coins like a lot of years ago it is too deep. I would think it is mostly bills today so deeper is better.
March 28, 20197 yr Author Popular Post Went the tree for more blanks. We cut 10 but some will either not be thick enough or not wide enough . All at least 4 inches thick and from 13 to 16 wide. In the pic of the tree there are 3 logs we left behind either pinched or has a limb underneath buried in the ground. Have to get that and more maybe next week .

April 8, 20197 yr Author Popular Post And the best goes on . Tried stain on a test piece , still wet but close enough. Discovered I need to sand better to get even color. Never did like oil stains. May try to create a water or alcohol dye. Now this his next one I almost stopped and changed this to a platter. Boy I love the things you find in pecan.
April 9, 20197 yr Author Well it could have been a platter but those faceplate holes made it difficult. Was going to turn another yesterday but discovered that the remaining 4 blanks were not large enough and with all the rain we have had will be a couple more weeks before I can get into that field where the tree is.
