This is the second prototype for our church offering plates. No the will not be spaulted like this, only dry oak I have. Hope to do this in green wood but may have to resort to kiln dry oak like Mike Peace did. Hope to be able to have the final form 1/2 to 1 inch deeper . This piece is a little less than 2 deep.

I made this several years ago, it was supposed to be a decorative bowl but Mimi said it looked like a collection plate. It would only work for a small congregation!

Thanks to all . Hope to add some dye to highlight the curl which does not show in the pic.

This is the beginning of the second prototype. It is deeper but the blank was not wide enough by 3/8 inch to get the rim right. Hope to hollow tomorrow. Had a rim crack I could not turn out and some bark on the rim. 

Looks nice. I see what you mean about the rim. How many of these are you going to make?
