Just glad you're OK considering the weather. Holy cow Larry...this thing is rocking! Are those red "cut" glass lamp covers in the brass plate? The brackets look awesome. Like the spindle rail and good call not cutting the door down. Is that valance brass? Can't wait to see it in it's new home. Thanks for the update...truly have missed them as well as you just hanging out but understand. Stay safe & warm.

No Dave, It's one that was sold next door at the neighbors Antique Mall. IIRC it sold for $725.00. But I've got loads of salvaged Spindles, and moldings.

January 30, 20197 yr That piece of furniture is very reminiscent of an old "pump organ" my parents used to have. Lots of ornate turnings. The thing actually worked! Unfortunately, my Dad thought it would look better if the oak wood was refinished. They eventually gave it to relatives.

Dave, You just had to mention portals. The one my neighbor had was sold. I did find a couple of others, but they were too big for my needs. So I did some serious head scratching , and came up with what I thought was a better idea. I'll be using the door from this busted up clock. Along with this Ceiling Fixture Shade. I'll be removing the beveled glass side panels. Which will leave me with this. To which I added a brass frame. These are made from a stash of trophy plates. And now for the last piece of the Brass frame. This was made from the back of an outdoor light fixture. The center is covered with some old lamp parts. And instead of a slow pulsing blue backlight, I decided to take it "Over The Top". How about a 15" monitor playing Underwater Marine Screensavers? The clock door frame needs to be cut down, and I still need to build the case which will house the monitor. I will be moving the brass work with the lights, and speakers above this. Oh, BTW I've been scrounging again.

Larry...you da' retro sci-fi man Thanks Dave, Believe it or not the idea came to me during the night. I woke up, and told myself "I've got to remember this" then went back to sleep. I figure if I'm going to go Sci-Fi, I have to go all the way! The following day I started going through my goodies to see what I could use to do this. I was surprised to find that the 15" monitor was the same size height wise as the ceiling light fixture. The extra width I'll cover with the wood case that will hide the monitor. I think it looks like it belongs on "The Nautilus".
