@Dadio and @Gene Howe, are you guys still experiencing your color and background choices not being retained when you log back in or revisit our community?

I lost my settings when I opened up the forum. I expected that my defaults would kick in when I logged in...they didn't. I had to reset them manually.

OK. I did a little "'sperimintation" and this is what I discovered.

Like Herb I run CCleaner. I dump everything and clean the HD on an almost nightly basis. This cleans up all of my orphan files and partially used HD segments. It just keeps the computer running a lot smoother.

So, this is what I found:

*     When I logged out and logged back in my default settings remained intact.

*     When I logged out, and manually dumped the CACHE and COOKIES (I'm using FireFox), and log back in my settings defaulted to the original settings (theme, colors, etc.).

Running any type of a maintenance cleaner, like CCLeaner or (I suspect) Disc Cleanup, trashes the users settings and forces the web page to default to the original software settings (theme, colors, etc.).

This has to be a software issue, as many other programs allow for customization and the setting remain intact until the user changes them. The native software should protect the default settings that the user chooses and not dump the setting and default back to the software defaults.

I like the background choices. Colors look good . I notice that the balloon to the front of each topic in topic listing is confusing. Before there was a dark dot for unread posts and now a balloon which may or may not be dark for unread. Please clarify or simplify.

By the way I like the top or bottom arrow in the right lower corner, may have already been there just noticed it.

@John Morris Also just notice in the new trial the topic that was once listed at the bottom is no longer there.

Everything is fine here except the word"React" which I hate and cringe everytime i see it.  Just like the old saying "For every action there is a reaction", to me it means "against", not in agreement. Now it is your turn to "react" to what I said. :)

I think of it in a different context- "the audience reacted to his anecdote with howls of laughter"  or "she reacted to his tender touch with a loving smile" or "when she opened the gift, she reacted with squeals of joy".

As did I...

I didn't have to change any settings, using  FF and CC  too. no white list either.  The site is beige background  when I call it up and changes to black when I log on.

The Bars between posts are either Teal or Blue, or Dark Green. Looks OK to me.

Thank you all for the great feedback. This is awesome. I'll be addressing these issues through this week.

If I can bother you again, would you be able to comment on what you would rather see, in place of an issue reported.

For example, @Dadio had addressed the"react" verbage. I don't like it either. So in place of react, what would you like to see?

In other words, as beta testers for this theme, please include a possible solution idea along with the reported issue. This will help us greatly improve your expectations. Thank you for being our theme testers!

I am not trying to be hard nosed about this , if it can't be changed, so be it, I can get used to it. Others might not think it is something that needs to be changed. maybe it is just me.

I think Newton's Law Third Law of Physics dealt with this whole action/reaction thing...not sure if that was before or after the apple beaned him though:rolleyes: It may or may not be relevant (probably not but I just like repeating it out loud) here but I'm out of donuts so thought I would chime in...

...These two forces are called action and reaction forces and are the subject of Newton's third law of motion. Formally stated, Newton's third law is: For every actionthere is an equal and opposite reaction. The statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects...

Bill, this was great feedback, thanks.

I forwarded your findings to our theme developer, and they clearly stated that if cookies are dumped, the preferences are dumped. Just the way it is. For better or for worse, it is what it is at this point. Is there any way you can save cookies for our community, even during your nightly clean up? Thanks!
