This has been the first week I actually started back to doing woodworking in the shop. Still keeping my time to half days but starting to get some work done.

This is week I cut out, jointed and planed pieces for six cutting boards. It was nice being back at the table saw and working through the process.

Thursday I got them glued into the long strips to make end grain boards.

The best part of the week was finally getting the roof on the shop shingled. My neighbors son does roofing and I hired him to do the roof for me since it will be a while before I'm ready to be on my knees.

This weekend my grandson is staying with us so not sure how much shop time I'll get. Hoping to get those boards cut into strips and glued in the end grain.

We we are looking at mid 70's for temps this weekend. Should break a few records for February.

What's on your agenda this weekend? You know all of us here at TPW love to hear and see what you are working on. What ever is on your agenda have a fun and safe weekend.

It depends John.  If I'm on the treadmill, I'll fast walk at about 4.2 MPH for around 45 minutes.  Usually, I can cover almost 3 miles including the 5 minute cool down and the incline that I walk at.

It was a beautiful day in middle Georgia today.  I got a burn permit and spent all day burning the pile of winter limb breakage and spring cleanup trimmings.  Tonight I have to pack, I will be on the road for the next seven days straight - headed to Phoenix, AZ and back...

Don't miss those days on the road...maybe you & @Gene Howe can meet half way between Phoenix & the mesa since you're that close...safe travels

@John Moody...Wow, that's a lot of clamps...good to hear you're back in the swing of things...new roof looks nice; BTW should this thread be in General Woodworking instead of Hand Tools...just wondering...

Forecast for mid to upper 60's SA/SU...hope to force child labor on grand-kids picking up stick & limbs...need to finish well house sump pump replacement; been temporary for a couple weeks;

May try to finish pruning some more on fruit trees I started in late November...also hope to do some clean-up and organizing in garage...

Yes it should have been in general woodworking.  Not sure how I got it in hand tools but I moved it so it should be good now!

Haven't had a ton of time in the shop lately but finished up a couple I things in past week. My wife wanted a picture for over our bed and actually let me make one that isn't painted and distressed for a change.image.thumb.jpeg.9c34db07224dd89c125a2e8b00512e24.jpeg

Also finished up a dresser for my son which turned out pretty good.

This weekend I am finally starting to mill all this cherry that is hiding my workbench to get started on a blanket chest. About half of this cherry has nice curl to it so I won't mind the milling process this go round. Also have to finish up a panel sled because my crosscut sled can only handle 18 inches and the chest panels will be 24 inches.

Or I could be on the way to the hospital at any point for the birth of my second son any minute now. Wife is at 38 weeks so getting close. Will be a busy weekend either way.

Which is exactly what the doctor ordered......and you should be doing with all that extra weight in your foot.

Trey, I have to admit I'm not much into painted/clear coat stuff, but that dresser is really nice! Well done. As for the baby, congrats...but remember I said this 13 years from now: they turn into teenagers (really quickly, too). laughter.gif

Hang in there Kelly. I've spent a good bit of time down also. Time to get in some reading and inspecting the inside of my eye lids! Hope you are doing well and hope for a speedy recovery. There is an Elk out there with your name on it!

Nice job on both projects Trey. You are really progressing.

Congrats on the baby. Keep us posted.

After a few days of attending to more mundane matters (did get a few nice meals out of it) it's back to finishing up repairs to my mistakes and reassembling the chest. Man, I'll be so happy when this thing is shipped.

Sounds like "the gang" has a busy weekend scheduled.  Kelly, keep on the mend!  Dave was kind enough to send some of that nice weather to eastern Indiana so I'll be in the shop with the door open.  Just have to share the jet blast of the planer with someone.  I'm in the middle of an awful project.  I'm building a pair of 6 1/2 foor solid oak bookcases for a lady and I've already had to re-make two side for one of them.  Seems the shelf pin spacing had a mind of its own on the top two shelfs and it decided that it wanted to be turned into a 4 foot bookcase.  Hopefully, it will sell at a show this summer and I can cut my loss into profit.

SInce the gym is crazy on Saturdays, I'll probably run a couple of miles this afternoon.
