February 13, 20179 yr Some kind of burl, for sure. I'll go with walnut, also. 35 years ago? A TV stand. Or, maybe a fancy changing table?
February 13, 20179 yr c'mon everyone, it's so obvious: it's a sock cabinet. you store your socks behind the doors on a set of shelves, and you fold and sort them on top (by color please). ok, what do i win?!

February 13, 20179 yr Popular Post I don't know what kind of wood it is but in Texas we make shingles out of the stuff. What is it, I think this was a featured item back about 35 years ago and Mechanics Illustrated did a feature on it .. It turns out after a person unfolds it 14 times it becomes a Hudson Terriplane that set the speed record on Pikes Peak. Thats Pikes Peak, Texas. They wouldn't let it race in Colorado for the glove compartment was installed upside down at the factory and the maps kept falling out and landing on the motor.... And since there are no mountains in Texas no one showed up. By the way ,,, the guy who got credit for building that box with some Texas shingles was a guy by the name of Preston.

My dad drove a Hudson Terraplane. It was a 2 door car with a rumble seat. I always had to ride in the rumble seat. No fun in the winter.
