February 6, 20179 yr Popular Post Good Monday Morning folks! What's on your woodworking agenda for the week ahead, and what did you get done in the shop over the weekend! My son and I worked on his science project for school. So we knocked our heads together and came up with an age old test, End grain or Edge grain, Which Provides the Strongest Glue Joint? We assembled his experiment, and performed the test, and now he is creating the display board that all the science is displayed on and his research along with some photos of the actual experiment, one image seen below, guess which glue joint won? The break test that was performed for each joint. So, tell us how your weekend went, and what you got planned ahead, woodworking, or not! Thank you all for being here. February 6, 20179 yr Popular Post Well, a good Monday morning to y'all. Sitting here waiting for about 100 BF of white oak to be delivered this morning from my friends at Frank Miller Lumber. So, that being said, when I get home from the gym I'll be planing lumber to build two bookcases this week. That's my week.
February 6, 20179 yr Popular Post Went to the wood stash Saturday and brought over some Cherry, Maple and White Oak so as I can, I have material to start working with. Should start cutting out some cutting boards this week. Slow but but sure I'll be making some sawdust this week!

February 6, 20179 yr Popular Post John, Did you guys measure the force it took to break the joint? As for me, I finally got some shop time. Built the drawers for the router table cabinet. It was not highly productive, but at least I was able to get out there!
February 6, 20179 yr Popular Post Spent the weekend relaxing and shopping. Today will be more productive, maybe. At least the new lumber is doing it's thing...drying.
February 6, 20179 yr Popular Post Between sneezes, I did manage to get all of the clamps (except spring clamps) moved to their new home- from various locations around the shop @John Morris I read some of Matthias Wandel's stuff on glue strengths. Maybe be some references there for your son. @Grandpadave52 Prayers for your Mom.

February 6, 20179 yr Not anything out in the shop this weekend. Have (had) over 2' of snow in the yard. Temps got into the mid 40* and it started to melt. The ground has heaved and now it's higher than the back door so guess where the water wanted to go! Between the shop vac and a sump pump got it under control. Thing of it was, I had to pump and vacuum ever 1/2 hr. You talk about being short of sleep!!!
February 6, 20179 yr Harry, sounds like a big problem. Hope you get it graded, soon. And, you gt some sleep soon.
