Well another election is in the books. I, for one, will be glad to return to commercials for Ozempic and Liberty Mutual car insurance. Our Patriot Turners- @RustyFN picked up some great looking Sycamore logs- He received lots of comments on the popularity of Sycamore for turning. Check out the comments at- Rust also made a super score at his local Woodcraft store. Our resident Ring Master turner, @Headhunter, posted some awesome bowls he has completed! Hargis Jr was perusing some of our older topics and posted an observation about a commonly turned wood- @DAB turned a nice little bowl from a wood I had never heard of- Ohia. I found this from an Internet search- https://dlnr.hawaii.gov/forestry/plants/ohia-lehua/ He has some interesting stuff he is thinking about storing in this one! @forty_caliber has several serious hobbies along with turning. It's fantastic when you can meld them together. In this post from "What's Off Yor Lathe...", Monty turned an adapter to help build his short wave radio antenna farm. Hope everyone has a safe and wonderful Thanksgiving. For Pennsylvania hunters, good luck on Monday- the first day of white tail buck season! Our Ward 57 Christmas project is underway. We are about 1/3 of the way to our goal. Please check out this and donate to get your raffle tickets for some awesome prizes! Our Patriot Turners- @Headhunter posted these fantastic bowls after we put up last "Wednesday's..." chapter. Tony creates his bowls using the Ring Master. See his post for more details on the species and more images of his bowls! Last week @Steve Krumanaker showed us the walking sticks he was creating. He used his shop made spirally jig to embellish the handles and they look incredible- Steve was kind enough to post a video of his spiral cutter, on his YouTube channel- @Masonsailor continue to crank out Christmas presents. Paul always fins the most interesting wood combinations to make each piece unique! The hardware for his turnings comes from Niles Bottle Stoppers. For The Newbies- Expand Your Horizons- New Turning Items- Didn't find anything new and exciting. Hoping Santa will come up with some new stuff! Everything Else- Rick Turns list of YouTube woodturning videos from last week- This has nothing to do with turning but there is an interesting history lesson here. I was coerced into going with Mimi to Thanksgiving Eve church service. Fortunately lightening didn't strike the church or any of the attendees. Mimi's family have been long time members of the local Zion Reformed Church in Chambersburg. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zion_Reformed_Church_(Chambersburg,_Pennsylvania) On Thanksgiving eve and Christmas eve they light the original chandelier for the service. Real candles, this chandelier is not electrified. Keep in mind the church was originally built in 1811 to 1813. It was one of the few structures that wasn't destroyed during the Civil War when the Confederate Army burned the town. Pretty amazing. Safe turning

A slightly different technique for making what I call basketbowls. The first two pics are from a 5-ring Ringmaster bowl and the last two are from a 7-ring Ringmaster bowl. It's no fun doing them all the same all the time! Sorry about the dust. Thanx for looking.

Please consider these suggestions while uploading your images. Name your images before uploading to our gallery, the generic camera file names just look so messy. "Walnut Desk" looks so much better than "DSC19467je69.jpg". You can also name your images after you upload them to our gallery for your convenience. After uploading your images, please consider adding a description so your viewers know what they are seeing and the wood used, the tools used, or even your inspiration for building the project. Please consider tagging your images so our members and guests will be able to successfully search for your image and related images. Tags can be inserted into the "Tags" field. An example of tags and their names should be related to your project. I wish I could say this is all an April Fools joke, but... Two posts this week I thought were extremely important even though they didn't deal with turning. The first from @Ron Altier about isolation. This can be a real deal breaker for some folks. I'm glad we have each other to help fend off those feelings. The second was from @Kevin Beitz wondering why more of us weren't posting on the forums now that we are asked to stay home. With all of the doom and gloom bombarding us from all sides, some of us just can't get the juices flowing enough to really enjoy time in the shop. Our Patriot Turners- @Lissa Hall showed us her first turned bowl and it is a beauty. Lissa turned it from cedar- Check out Lissa's post and give her kudos on a great turning! @Masonsailor continues to finish up his lazy susan tulips. He have us two updates this week- and- Our old friend @Charles Nicholls is still cranking out his great stuff. Charles showed us what he is up to on a post from last Friday- New member @marshall posted an inquiry about learning to use a Ringmaster from Peter Merritt. He has received a few comment but hopefully some of you can direct him to more information- What’s Coming Up- "Turning Tuesday at Woodcraft" is a new video presentation from our sponsor. This is from their YouTube channel- "We are starting a weekly live video series where we hang out in the shop and make something. As of right now Tuesdays at 2pm Frank will be turning one of our project kits. We will hopefully be adding more streams as well. Make sure you follow us on social media to stay up to date." For The Newbies- There are pretty much as many ways to turn a project as there are turners. Here's a nice video on turning spheres without any special jigs- Expand Your Horizons- Last week we posted a rather lengthy video on getting into resin turning.
