Our president’s challenge for Saturday at our club is a segmented bowl. I don’t have much time so I threw this together real quick. It is 8” in diameter and is made from canary wood. That wood is hard on sandpaper.

Every year we have a neighborhood get together where we walk from house to house where there is food and games to play. The food is good and the games are sometimes hotly contested. The corn hole game is the one that everyone gets excited about, although last year the target shoot with a nerf ball gun got everyone going. The walk ends up in our cul de sac where we usually have a food truck, this year a taco truck, and the final round of the corn hole game where this years champion will be decided. For the last several years I have donated a turning as the prize. Did the glue up yesterday and will start turning it today. The base is canary wood and the top is black walnut. Paul

So I decided to mix technologies. I cut rings out of canary wood using the SO to make a bowl not out of segmented rings but continuous rings, each one with a slight recess to allow them to nest together and aid in the gluing process. Paul

So this morning I've started on the second of the canary bowls. How ever I decided to try something new with the bottom. Not sure if it was a wise move. Not sure if it was even think able or I just wasted my time. I am not exactly sure how much room this will leave me for hollowing out the inside. But I guess we shall see. If you guys have any thoughts on this one I'm all ears. I'm just about finished with shaping the outside of the bowl.
