August 24, 2025Aug 24 Author Popular Post Finished up the components today so now it’s some light sanding and assemble the rest of the carcasses. I also made a new base for my trim router. It’s been needing a new one for a long time. Paul
August 26, 2025Aug 26 Author Popular Post I added a dust collection port to the router and managed to get one carcass glued up. Paul
August 28, 2025Aug 28 Author Popular Post The last of the carcasses today. I will finish them off tomorrow and then get started on the lazy Susan platters and shelving. Paul
August 28, 2025Aug 28 I suspect you're going to need some strong backs to move those into position. At least I would since my back isn't strong anymore.
August 28, 2025Aug 28 Author Popular Post Yep they are heavy. I will bring in two young guys to help me set them. The one problem with using solid wood is the extra weight. But with the current situation with plywood I don’t feel there is a lot of choice. It has certainly changed the way we work. Adding a large drum sander was the biggest change as far as space and money. The next big change in our shop will happen over the next few months. We’ve decided to go full on the MFT system. StaticLV’s shop had a lot to do with that decision. But it just makes sense. Cutting panels of solid wood has issues such as weight and solid wood binds during cutting on the table saw. It is a better solution to cut them on a table as opposed to schlepping them to the table saw. The accuracy and speed of the MFT and track saw system now makes that possible. It won’t solve all the issues but I think it will make life easier. Paul
September 1, 2025Sep 1 Author Popular Post Spent the day milling and sanding the tracks and trim for the sliding doors. Getting closer ! Paul

Track saws really revolutionized sheet and panel work, even if you don't go full MFT in the set up. I've done some amazing things on a jobsite with just a track saw. They make cutting sheets and panels as easy as with those old panel saws you still see around at some home centers, but they are a lot more versatile. Much as I like a cabinet saw, I mostly use it just for ripping these days. EDIT: I'm enjoying all the pics btw, thanks for taking the time to post them. Edited September 1, 2025Sep 1 by JWD
September 4, 2025Sep 4 Author Popular Post It was a short day in the shop. Life got in the way. I finished up all the carcasses and got them moved out of the shop. Managed to get 4 of the 5 lazy Susan’s routered. Paul
September 4, 2025Sep 4 Author Popular Post Finished up the lazy Susan blanks, all sanded and ready for pegs. I also started butcher blocking all the end cuts for making drawers. Paul
September 13, 2025Sep 13 Author Popular Post I milled up all the drawer components today and hopefully will get them all assembled tomorrow. Normally I use 1/4” cedar ply for the drawer bottom for the cedar drawer but I called all over town and there is none available and they have no idea when they will get some so I will have to use birch ply. September 15, 2025Sep 15 Author Popular Post Finished all the drawers this morning and outside of drawer fronts and doors it’s ready for installation so demo of the existing closet should start in a day or two. I took the latter part of the day putting a new top layer on the workbench. Tomorrow I will turn it into an MFT table. Paul
September 16, 2025Sep 16 Author Popular Post Today was a full day of routering but the MFT table top is done except for the edge trim. Now back to the closet. Paul

September 16, 2025Sep 16 Author Popular Post Finished up the table. Let’s hope it turns out worth the effort. Most of the threaded inserts are done but either they shorted my order or I was confused. I was 75 short. Hmm. Paul IMG_6579.mov
