November 30, 2025Nov 30 Author Popular Post I am getting to the last stages of the closet now. It has been a long one. Somehow life keeps getting in the way of my woodworking. I am down to the drawer fronts and sliding doors. Paul
November 30, 2025Nov 30 Excellent work Paul. Good thing you're not claustrophobic or would that be closetrophobic😆
December 1, 2025Dec 1 My one drawer of clothes would look pretty pitiful in that grand space! Awesome work.
December 1, 2025Dec 1 Popular Post Looking good here. Have not seen anything on this project for so long I thought it was finished. I am about to embark on my won closet project but not as ambitious as yours. Just adding some shelves.
December 1, 2025Dec 1 Author Popular Post Yes it has been a long one. This last summer and fall were really busy with road trips and other projects. Hopefully things will settle down now and I can get consistent time in the shop. Paul
December 3, 2025Dec 3 Author Popular Post Started on the drawer fronts today inlaying the zebra wood and the drawer pull hole. Paul
December 20, 2025Dec 20 Author Popular Post Finished the drawer fronts today. Now it’s on to the sliding doors for the uppers. Iv already glued up the verticals so the doors should go fairly quick. Paul
December 20, 2025Dec 20 Author It’s a three step process. The eclipse is first cut full thickness. That I now cut with the Shaper Origin but in past years it was done with a plunge router and pattern. Next the top is a round over and then the bottom is routed out with a cove bit. Paul
December 23, 2025Dec 23 Author So today was time to start the upper cabinet doors which are sliders. They are approximately 22” wide and 17” wide. There are eight of them with two being much wider and for another day. This is a style door we have used in most of our projects for the last 30-40 years. It was born out of an idea my wife had to create a flat euro style door that gives the illusion of a raised panel door. Each door involves at least 8 glue ups. The trick is to mill up the next stock while the previous glue up dries for an hour. So it takes a full day of milling and clamping to completely glue up a set of doors and then sand them down the following day. So it was a long day. I took pics sequentially but I don’t know they will make sense. Paul
December 28, 2025Dec 28 Author Today was fitting the doors and making sure they match up. Tomorrow I will router the finger pulls. https://youtube.com/shorts/dPk-eX0uQLE?feature=shared Paul Edited December 28, 2025Dec 28 by Masonsailor
December 28, 2025Dec 28 Paul, great looking doors and I like the style. I am a little confused. It appears that the center panel has all three plys wood grain going the same direction. If so, what is done for board shrinkage/growth compensation? Why do you use different wood species for the center panel? What is your method for sanding after final glue-up?
