Every woodworking site out there...they always talk about it...and how only certain $$$$ tools could deal with it....so..

 

We are about to find out IF such is true..or just someone trying to sell me tools..

Here we go...

Will be trying to find some actual use for these four Ash planks...3/4 x 6" x 4'  more of less..a look at the other side?

These 4 can from 2 longer planks..and were then sent through a Lunch Box Planer...BEFORE I got to buy them. 

 

 

This is half of the remaining planks I have on hand...

 

This should be FUN?

Ash shouldn’t be a problem to work with..Ashe is  one of the main selling woods in the mid westl.

1 hour in the shop..cutting and a-ripping...8 bft soon became about 3 bft...

 

The Good..

these are all 3/4" x 3-1/2" width..might have enough to glue up a panel..

Maybe a Raised Panel..and make the door frame to house it? 

 

The "Bad"..

Note the one edge..?

I could resaw this to that 1/2" thick edge..it is that thing in the center, that I do not like..

 

Then, some were just plain "The Ugly"

Which soon found a new home...

Have a pile that needs cut down to fit the Fire Pit..

Area between me shoulders is kind of Crampy at the moment...

Time to just chill out, for a bit..

Next up...will be hauling these three 1 x 6 x 5' planks to the shop...

To start on a replacement for the too small/shallow DVD Cabinet..

Because..

The cases are too big for this older Cabinet...and would not let the door shut all the way closed...

strictly speaking, you have 2 variables in that equation.  first - depth of cabinet;  second, depth of case.

 

you could....ahem.....(hang in there, some bad advice is coming up shortly)....reduce the depth of each case, using your TS and fence set just so......

Sides of the new cabinet will be around 8" deep...

1 hour in the shop, today..

Milled a top and a bottom panel..trying for best grain match...

Same with the side panels...one at 5-1/2" wide, the other at 2-1/4" wide..

Stanley No. 6c to joint the edges before the glue ups..

2 sides have been glued up...about 26" in length..and..

The bottom shelf and the top of the case..

 

Let this sit a day...

 

Might have enough for the door...

Frame..

And other parts...

Waiting to see what size Raised Panel I am going to need...

 I would have just cheated and added a quarter inch to the front of the cabinet.

I love a good stout.  I try not to drink a lot of them, but a stout or a scotch ale are brews I never turn down!

I won’t drink it. My son in law drinks it and weird stuff. Guess I’m a girly man as I like Coors Banquet. I do cheat and drink Bud light Platinum..

I'll drink Coors Banquet too.  Not really one for the light beers, but it's still beer so I'll drink it.

 

I'm not big on IPA's, mostly because I'm ornery and I avoid the stuff all the kids rave about

For those cold evenings...

Bad bout with Vertigo yesterday....not safe to be around sharp, spinning objects ( Tablesaws and the like) when the  room itself is spinning 'round.

Cardio Doctor visit this morning, will see how things go....MAY BE some shop time later, today...?
