Grandpadave52 praying for good results at the doctor's appointments

Thanks Lew. Appreciate the prayers. Today's visit was mainly the "routine" annual Medicare check-up which went well.  TWOT in my opinion but makes the insurance people happy. However she allocated extra time so we could discuss other things off the record of course. Still have to make a trip back to the hospital in a week or so for additional blood work to see if I'm gaining any ground on the anemia. No big deal and worth the time as insurance covers it that way; her recommendation. Got some Rx's renewed, then went to PU at drugstore. While there, got a tetanus shot. It was past due. Makes no sense there either. Medicare won't pay for it at the Dr's. office but pays for it at the Pharmacy.

Gramps, that is such great news, what a recovery!

Thanks John. I am finally feeling some better. It's been a slow, roller coaster ride getting this far, but it felt good to have some degree of independence today. Still have the Neurology visit this week to hopefully turn the page for now on the stroke side of this journey. Then in March a follow-up with my Vascular Surgeon for some more tests on the blockage. Next Monday, with the Urologist for a scope procedure to determine if additional surger(y)ies are needed. So, a ways to go yet, but getting there. One day at a time.

@steven newman Congrats to you and the better half.

Had a turners meeting Saturday with a good time by all. At my station I had a lady who had never used a gouge at the lathe, by the end she had much better cntrol and is on her way to fun turning . Started the day raking leaves to finish what was started yesterday.  Man even with the new to me blower it took much longer than I thought. Hauled that down to the ranch  (two truck loads) for the compost pile. While there I marked out for posts on the lean to Tractor Shed and dug the first post hole. Hope go back for maybe 3 more in the morning if the rain holds off.

Late to the party, but, Happy Anniversary @steven newman

The last couple days got a jump on the Tractor lean to. Got the spacers in yesterday to get ledger boards above windows. Today ledgers (all oak) went in and one post was set. A friend suggested using Flex Seal on posts which I had never thought about. These are cedar so what do y’all think of benifits ?

same friend asked me about squaring the lean to with rough cut posts. I plan to use thru bolts to attach the outside joist to posts. Hurricane straps to attach rafters to outside and u shape to attach them to ledger. Driving structural screws into wet oak ain’t no fun.

Personally I think it's a good idea although Flex-Seal liquid is a bit pricey IMO.

Post Wrap  seems to be a reliable solution these days especially when using treated posts. You can shrink it with a heat gun or propane torch. Might not be readily available within your needed time frame though. I've seen several reviews by users on YouTube who highly recommend it or a similar product.

No idea of the benefits, but that stuff is expensive. Given that cedar is pretty durable outside I'd take a swing at how much you need (and the cost) before deciding.

First thought is am I going to be around to reap benefits?  Second thought is a sealer would definitely help.

Fast 2K is being used as it serves two purposes.

Dan that stuff is more than the Flex Seal. In the video they used more than one bag but what the HD has is a double bag purportedly doing the work of 2 bags of cement. I can see it being a great idea if was a little less costly.
